Default HORC monk build. Need critiques

At level 5. Currently doing too much damage to ever not have threat. If I can never get flanking bonus, is there any point for sneak attack stuff from spy? Also, seems a bit glass cannony; any way to avoid that? The healing strikes can't generate enough regen because mobs die in 1-3 hits at my level.

drop stunning blow, get dodge instead.

Eventually you won't be doing too much damage and will want some defenses. By level 12, spend atleast 11AP in the ninja spy tree in order to qualify for Shadow Fade.

Improved sunder lost a lot of it's usefulness imo with the nerf to quivering palm. I'd pick up cleave at level 2 and great cleave at 12. Put off I.crit bludgeoning till level 18.

If you don't want to delay dps feats for that long, splash.
My own monk is a 16/2/2.
alternately. A 12monk, 6paladin, 2fighter is a good option in the current game.

Strength of 23 + fire stance isn't enough to get the DCs from stunning blow to make it valuable?

Was shadow fade = shadow veil. It's in there.

Improved sunder was taken because back when I was really active in this game (shortly after VoN Epic release) sunder was very useful for the hard to hit mobs.

Go talk to fred and swap improved sunder.

And no, stunning blow will not last the distance on a monk, other builds barely make it useful with divine might, power surge and kensai / racial tactics boosts.

shadow fade / shadow veil same thing now. I like to get it at level 6 because it's a free invis clicky for zerging, but I was trying to help give you an idea of the latest you'll want it buy.

how are your crafting skills? You can always make a pair of lesser vampirism handwraps, then slowly add other attributes as your level permits.

Nonexistent. Stopped playing after VoN Epic was released. Can you craft anything other than +x without buying from DDOStore? I have liquid knives, but that's only for +x right?

Yes, because it's essentially free extra DPS when you stun targets. Besides, you need to spend your APs on something to get No Mercy.
Also, seems a bit glass cannony; any way to avoid that?
You'll be able to pick up Shadow Veil at lvl 6; that plus Dance of Clouds will really help your miss chance. Otherwise, better stock up on CSW pots if you don't have SF pots in your TR cache. EDIT: you may also wish to use Earth Stance + Iron Skin for extra PRR.

Agree on dropping S.Blow; I recommend Deflect Arrows instead, though. Pure monks have plenty of Dodge already, an extra +3% isn't gonna matter much; whereas Deflect Arrows is an unique defensive buff. That or I would rearrange feats to get Cleave+GC.

My preferred feat order on pure monk is: Power Atk (monk 1), Cleave (1), TWF (monk 2), ??? (3), Stunning Fist (monk 6), GC (6), ITWF (9), IC:Blunt (12), GTWF (15), ??? (18). The "???" are whatever you want to round things out: Deflect Arrows, Imp Sunder, Precision, a couple of ranged feats (e.g., Shuriken Expertise & 10K Stars), etc.

there is a smithy guild for new players and if you send their members the ingredients, they can craft them.
The liquid knife removes the +x but you still need to craft a shard of +x, which requires crafting levels.
I woukd start with just deconning weapons for now (you get crafting xp for doing so), contact the smithy guild, and focus on getting the vampiric stonedust wraps for level 12+.

So I just found out my guild has pretty decent prices on hirelings. Solo level-appropriate, elite, survivability is now super easy w/ a cleric hireling (less than the cost of a csw). Now that I can survive, any gear suggestions?

Since I'm level 5 my +1 humanoid bane handwraps seem to be doing pretty great damage. Especially since they're paired with greater bold trinket and brawler knuckles (between non and fully upgraded).

At what level am I going to go away from these items? What should I be looking to stockpile for what levels? I'll post my current TR bank handwraps and banked items when I'm next at home. I imagine there are some standard suggestions though.

What base nonbuffed STR do I need for easy to-hit on EE (when I left there was only epic, no EN, EH, EE)?

Where is the crafting calculator url that shows "these enchantments will cause this item to be this level?"

Thanks for all the help so far, this new crafting has really generated some questions.

Don't worry about to hit anymore, since you quit there was an ac overhaul and now it's a random %. Between that change, and items like Accuracy +11 that boost your to hit by 11, (ie. the same boost as 22str [for to hit]) There's no point in worrying about it. To hit will sort itself out.

It's worth noting that the random % is rounded to the nearest 5%, there are a lot of times when +1 to hit does absolutely nothing, and there are even times when GH will not change your to hit chance.
