Smile High Lords will host teaching raid Tower of Despair on Saturday, March 1 at 8pm EST!

Last Saturday's event was lots of fun with VOD and HOX! Click HERE to read about it!

The next raid in our series will be Tower of Despair on Saturday, March 1 at 8pm EST.

As with our last event, the raid is for players newer to the raiding scene or players that are looking to learn raids better. First timers welcome! Dbags not welcome. Please have sound and be willing and able to follow instructions.

The goal is to welcome newer players into the raiding scene, to teach people how raids work, to get players more comfortable with raids, and to enhance the Sarlona community.

If you are new to TOD, you will need to be flagged by running 4 quests in Amrath: Genesis Point, Sins of Attrition, A New Invasion and Bastion of Power. You will need access to The Devils of Shavarath adventure pack.

You will also want to acquire Boots of Anchoring prior to the raid. Boots of Anchoring prevent you from being banished out of the plane of Shavarath and out of the raid. The final boss Horoth can cast Banishment, and if you don't have some way to absorb spells, you can be teleported out of the raid faster than you can say "why am I suddenly in the marketplace?!" If you get banished, you will not be able to re-enter the raid. You can acquire Boots of Anchoring by trading 1 each of the following ingredients Devil's Keepsake, Pure Shavarath Iron, Demon's Blood and Mysterious Artifact to the Planescaller Liella d'Orien in Amrath. Boot ingredients can be found in the chests of any quest in Amrath. They are not bound, so can be traded and purchased on the auction house and shard exchange. If you cannot acquire Boots of Anchoring before the raid, you may still join, but please bring some kind of spell absoption item such as Mantle of the Worldshaper, Pale Lavender Ioun Stone, Epic Phiarlan Mirror Cloak, Jeweled Cloak, Scarab of Spell Absorption, etc.

If you would like to reserve a space in this Saturday's TOD, please contact me in game on Gingerspyce.

Thanks again for all the support and we hope to see you in raids soon!

    Love,
Gingerspyce and The High Lords of Malkier

I'm pretty sure you can also pull the ingredients from devil's assault.

I do not have this pack, but have several of the ingredients. If any newbies to the raid are wanting to join this and can't find one/more of the ingredients shoot me a PM here (or find me in-game on galactose or nephron)...I will certainly sell them cheaper than the AH.

Awesome idea. I hope it works out great. Hound, VOD and TOD are some of my favorite raids. I built a tank years ago just for these raids.

    Happy hunting.

Default Boots of Anchoring and Flagging Question.

Awesome and tyvm for hosting this one! I've never ran this raid, but did get a pair of Boots of Anchoring last life. I assume they will be good to go. However, I know I'm not flagged this life. I only ran the quest for the Mad Lute.

My question is, do I need to flag for both heroic and epic, or just one or the other? Is there even an epic version of the raid?

I will probably be soloing the rest of the quests and may just want to fastest way to flag given work load here this week.

Guild Leader Gingerspyce? Ok, well guild leader to guild leader (for this month at least) if you need some folks to fill out the group and I am online, just ask. Maybe I should re-flag for that then?-Kluege

This is a heroic level raid (level 20). There isn't an epic version, but it would probably be popular if there was.

If you aren't able to find a group for flagging let me know. I'll be happy to run those quests with you. I am also Slarden in the game and I recognize your name from running with you previously. The only quest that can't be solo'd (as far as I know) is genesis point because you need to someone on lever duty.

If you're really clever with a hireling you can do it.

You can re-enter the raid, but you will be locked in the initial hallway with no chance of getting any chests.

Anyone who thinks they're unable to run the raid again within 3 days is normally better off re-entering. (caveat. you must re-enter before the party kills Horoth if you want a completion)

I thought if you enter a quest, then recall by using the button then enter again, you would get the completion even if you are not inside at the time. Something I heard once about buggy mechanics of this.

I'm aware of this old bug, I don't think it's an appropriate lesson for the purposes of this particular raid.

I did try that but failed at the clever part. I'll try it again the next time I run the quest. It's good to know it's possible. Thanks for the tip.

Is there a max char lvl you're willing to accept? I.e., do you care about XP / Bravery Bonuses for this training raid?
Semi-retired Build Engineer. Everything was better back in our day. Get off my lawn.

No max level for our raids. While you occasionally see at level raids for xp and bb, generally people don't raid for xp. In any event, our training raids have no level requirements

I don't know if I will manage to get the boots together in time to join, but as a Sarlona resident you have my thanks for organizing these.

Speaking as someone who has done it several times for flagging and Yugo favor . . . it is a tremendous pain. For the uninitiated, it involves carefully positioning your hireling at the bank of levers on the upper level, ideally hitting them with Invisibility in some way (because even if you clear the top, there are respawning enemies, and the last thing you want is your hireling getting in a fight and losing position or dying). Then you have to go down to the maze and hard target the levers up above so you can use the hireling's Interact button. But, of course, there are a bunch of different levers and you can't see them through the wall, so it's . . . . annoying. You can kind of judge which lever you have targeted based on the position of the floaty text you can see through the wall, but it's not perfect. But with a little trial and error it can be done.

If getting someone to group with you for Genesis Point is even remotely possible, it's a lot more pleasant and quicker than using a hireling.
