Question regarding Bladeforged - Communion of Scribing (Reconstruct)

Ok, so I've been thinking about one of my corny odd concepts again. But I need to find out a little detail first.

What Im thinking is to TR one of my surplus lvl 20 sorcs/wizards into the following;

Bladeforged
Create as 1 paladin.
Jump out of creation hall and do a +1 LR to change 1 palading to 1 fighter.
Jump into a tavern and change Lawful Good to Chaotic Good
Level up 1 more fighter and 13 barb.
Finish off leveling as 2 fighter and 18 barbarian.

Now, the crucial point. Can Communion of Scribing (Reconstruct racial enhancement) be used while raged? I know it works while in beholders antimagic ray, but so does Cocoon while not working while raged.

Its not a make or break part of the character since it will add selfhealing outside being raged anyway.

There are 2 problems with your plan. You cannot LR while banking xp so you'd have to level all the way to 15 before you could LR which means you'd need either an LR +20 or several LR +5's. And more importantly from what I've read (haven't actually tried) SLA's including the reconstruct don't work while under barbarian rage.

I tried this out on lammania.

Madstone rage yes.
Barbarian rage no.

I've not bothered LR'ing into barb levels on live, but I can confirm you can still use the SLA whilst madstoned.

Sla means spell like ability, while barb raged you cant use spells.

This isn't a binary either-or. Most SLAs you CAN use in non-spell situations. Some, however, you can't. I suspect under the covers they are actually coded as spells and not spell-like.

Hmm, sounds like my little plan just ran aground then. Not being able to LR while holding the xp for 15 makes this a bit too expensive and time consuming having to wait for multiple LR 5s.

Humhumh...so...18 barb/2 druid might be the better course as halfling instead then.

Wouldn't you be able to go 1/14 pal/barb then LR into your 2/13 ftr/barb idea? I don't have iconics but it seems to me that would work.

Alignment problems.

Paladin's have to be lawful good and barbarian cannot be lawful.

I have decided to go ahead with my Bladeforged Barbarian project and I'll list the steps that I have taken so far and how long it will take to complete.

TRed into Bladeforged 1 Paladin 14 Fighter
LRed +1 and got rid of the Paladin level and now 15 Fighter (the TR and LR does not share timer, bought +1 heart for 1,5 mill plat)
Alignment change to Chaotic Good (no timer here, 495 TP for the change)
Now I hit the 3 day timer for next LR. So, once that is past I will use my +20 LR heart to go 15 Barbarian.

So all in all this takes me 3 days to complete.

I'll report back how it works.

The only sad part is that I didnt have time to prepare her gearwise but I dont think that will be a big concern. Was missing a Greater Shard for a LitII GS Falchion. And another Greater Shard for an SP proc item :-)

I can now confirm that you CAN NOT use the racial Bladeforged Reconstruct while raged as barbarian.

However, I do find it extremely useful. Once you get the 10% extra SP ED from Exalted Angel you also get 25 SP base (echoes) which is very useful as the reconstruct 3/3 costs 25 SP.

Love how my former cleric Eileenia turned out as a 13 barb/2 fighter (18barb/2fighter planned) Bladeforged.
