I don't have a solution for you, but I am having the same issue. I tried reloading the C++ package other people are having trouble with, but (of course) it didn't help. I get to the Server Selection screen ok, then after selecting a server I get a blue screen of text that quickly disappears and the computer auro-reboots.

I submitted a bug report and got the auto-response, but who knows when/if i'll get an actual solution.

I got the exact same thing.

I wonder if it has to do with our operating system when they were programming it. I also bug reported it and can't play until it is fixed. I'm using 64-bit Win7, what are you using?

I am also running 64-bit Windows 7. I've been playing DDO under 64-bit Win 7 for 18 months with no issues. DDO worked fine yesterday, and crashes the computer since loading U18. No other program has managed to find the BSOD on my computer.

ok so at least we have something in common. I've also been using Win7 64-bit for over a year without any problems. So at least we narrowed it down to something specific! I'll let you know here if I come up with a work-around.

I've also heard back from the bug report people and they told me to contact their technical support staff (apparently it's the wrong department to contact for a "timely response")..... sigh. *face-palm* then *head-smash*

    Default I figured it out!!!

Nothing from Tech Support yet (other than an automated request for a DxDiag file) so I decided to do some research on my own. Bottom line - at least for me - is that U18 is not compatible with the latest Intel HD Graphics driver. I did a driver roll-back and was able to log into the game.

    Details:
I found out that Windows puts a mini-dump file with information about crashes in C:\Windows\minidump.
There are programs to read these dump files - I used one called BlueScreenView
The problem looked like a page fault in igdkmd64.sys, which is the Intel HD Graphics Driver
I had the latest version of the driver installed, so I did a driver roll-back.
After rebooting so the new (I mean old) driver could take effect, I was able to log in.

I can't help with the launcher error, but I can remember you guys that is possible to disable auto-restart when a blue screen occurs.

Use the keystroke WIN key + Pause / Break. A panel pops up displaying system properties. Look in Advanced > Startup and Recovery and turn off "auto reboot" option.

Now you can run DDO launcher, wait for the blue screen to pop and take a note on error details.

    Hope it helps!

Yup I have the same OS, graphics etc.... this is one of the things to try, also downloaded and reinstalling directx. It seems that resetting your in-game graphics settings might solve the issue quoted below. Try these three things...I did mine last night(the rollback, directx) and it solved my blue screen problems.

Right click the DDO icon in the taskbar and go to options.

Go to the repair tab in there about resetting graphics settings and click the box in there, then try to log in.

Gratz on figuring it out! Unfortunately for me, I tried to roll-back my driver for the Intel HD Graphics. It was a great idea but still doesn't work for me. I guess I can't play DDO for now, gonna play something else. Have fun in there!

    Smile Yay!

seems like rollback didn't go back far enough. I reinstalled my original video card drivers (when I first got this machine) and it works fine now. Yay! Thanks!

I had the same issue as well. Before I found this thread I reloaded DDO, reinstalled Direct X and that didn't fix it. The rollback didn't work for me so I tried a few other things. I disabled my Dell video drivers and had to install a generic HD video driver and now I'm up and running again.
