forum password

A friend of mine who never has had a forum account wanted to try out lamannia but couldn't access the character copy tool. They tried to create a forum account but they were unable to. They were able to set a forum nickname but not password. How can one change a forum password if they don't know the old password? They know their turbine account password but there is no option on the account management site to change their forum password, the only option is to change their account name.

I logged into myaccount.turbine.com to help them (since I have changed my forum password using that site in the past) and there is no longer an option to change the forum password. last time I was on that site there was a link under my forum name to change the forum password, now the only related link is change nickname. Clicking on change nickname lets me change my nickname but not my password.

So, How does one create a forum account or set the forum password without having access to the forums?
