    Default Monk Spy or 2h

    Hello,

Ive returned after awhile and been looking around at Classes and all. I saw that Monk Ninja Spy and said hey that looks cool! The whole walking on water and Invisabillity is Cool. Just my quistion with that is would a be a Dex or Str? (Will use Halfling because bonus to Sneak) If you know a Build Link

Now my other thought is Man 2hand is beast. Bigger is better. But I dont know what class would be better to Deal HIGH MAX damage with a 2hand (Perfierbly the best Greatsword, Greataxe, Falchion i can get my hands on) and to hit big and hard as fast as possible. What class is that and what race? Or link a build

NOW LAST QUISTION: Between Ninja Monk and 2h swinger. Who is more powerful?

    Thank you.

    Default Ninja Spy

I'd say Ninja Spy hands down, I'm not a mathcrafter so I can't give you solid numbers, however I've played 2h fighter, barb and paladin. I liked the dps in the order I listed those classes, but since this is a discussion of ninja monk vs 2h of any kind I've only got 1 thing to say about that. Touch of Death It's basically a 1 hit pwn.

With game changes, most pure Monks add a little more to STR or DEX, CON or WIS, depending on their Grandmaster path, forego Weapon Finesse (thus ending the "STR vs DEX" argument) and concentrate at end game on boosting WIS as high as they can. It controls so many successes and protections on a Monk, from Concentration to AC to your Stunning and other DCs that it has become very important, especially in epic levels. Keep STR and DEX relatively equal but as high as you can. It's about balance on a Monk, not dominance of any one ability, save WIS.

A Ninja Spy's best skills are infiltration, invisibility on demand and use of shortswords as ki weapons. (Take the Two Weapon Fighting chain). Monk's don't do as much damage as typical Fighters, but they don't take as much damage either, if you play the class to their strengths. A Dark Monk that charges in, sucks up a lot of damage to apply a Touch of Death every 15 seconds is one thing. A Ninja Spy that sneaks up, assassinates something with Quivering Palm and then assassinates another target with ToD without attracting a lot of attention is quite another--you made your job easier later. Remember that Dark Monks can't self heal as well as their Light Monk brethren. You can use race skills to help here (especially Half Elf Cleric dillys).

I don't depend on ToD...it's too slow. But I do use it and well.

Chiming in: don't take Finesse. I also encourage you to go human or half-elf instead of halfling. The sneak bonus is not very significant, the damage boost and heal amp are.

If you want really big numbers, go greataxe barbarian, probably with Legendary Dreadnought. Best DPS is an unanswerable question.

If you go Half Elf you can still get SA Bonus via Rogue dilletante.

Or 95% chance on heal scrolls, which I would argue is better unless you have 39+ umd. >_>

That's a good start. That extra feat will be handy.

Work in at least Cleave. Great Cleave as well.

I went Dark Monk Helf dilly and have been really enjoying it. If I was to go human the first two questions I would ask myself is, "Does the extra feat make up for Hjeal scrolls only failing on a 1?. If so how much extra stuff do I have to put into umd to make up for it?"

If you can still do what you want with your build and fit in the umd I would go for it. For me I really like that scroll as I can self hjeal when I mess up and agro everything. With a monks hjealing amp you should be able to keep yourself up just using a set of ivy wraps as long as you pull stuff slow and don't run into a mob like a donkey cave and agro everything in one go.

I have really been enjoying monk and can't wait to put two more monk lives and three pally lives on her. Plus I believe as the dilly is a enchantment you can swap it out after you cap if you want that extra rogue dilly sneak attack damage.

I went a halfing dex/wisdom dark monk.. Which I egret ting and when she finally got to lvl 20 I TR'd her into a light str monk..she is sorta sitting ack at lvl 13 right now as I'm enjoying my recently TR'd bard soon to be kensai aa a lot. Sometimes I think I went backwards and should've went strength for my dark monk and dex/wis for my new light monk but hey it's what it is...as I fight a lot of undead and my dex finesse route couldn't get through a lot of dr and I had to depend solely on my hand wraps flame/good/whatever extra damage and my high dodge/ac to survive...(touch of death is useless vs undead )

If you go dark monk I suggest you use wind stance... Double striking with 2 touch of deaths is really....really.....really.... nice.. I swear I did a triple maybe even quadruple but I think it was me just hitting so fast and I was imagining things since I had all the twf feats.

500x2 or heck.. 250x2 if they fail.. is still cool..it's even higher if you land that curse beforehand that increases negative energy damage.

In DDO unarmed TWF has a faster attack rate than armed TWF, and gets full Strength bonus to offhand damage as opposed to half. You also get significant bonuses to base unarmed damage as you get higher in level, and can only use certain special attacks (Stunning Fist, Quivering Palm, Touch of Death) when unarmed.

+2 damage is not a good trade for all of that.
