    Default Optimal +Cha skills slot/recipe

I'm looking to do my melee lives and was wondering where you guys would suggest slotting +6 cha skills as I plan to go human with rogue levels for UMD, and what recipe you're using. I'm thinking cloak for Heroic levels at least, with 3x Air would be my cheapest option? Or am I missing a better, more unused melee slot?

Where to put that is largely dependent on the rest of your build.

Is this a tank? Is this for situational UMD use on a DPS toon?

    etc.

Part of the problem I suppose is I haven't decided on a built yet lol, but I can help shed light on some things:
    - I do know this won't be a tank
    - Preliminary ideas for the builds (probably gonna do all 3 for 3 Ftr PL's): 12 Kensei/7Rogue/1Monk (probably like Blender but unarmed) -or- 12 Kensei/6 Dark Monk/2 Rogue -or- 18 Kensei/2Rogue
    - I'd like for it to be perma equipped on heroic levels at least, as I still get some lag when switching out +CHA skill stuff, and I'll often be needing it when healing myself, and lag will just be a death sentence
    - Primary purpose is to bump my UMD for Heal/Tenser's during heroic levels, as these are pass-through lives (I hope)

Triple air goggles IMO. There's almost nothing for goggles. Tharne's maybe if you have them.

But cha skills is generally a swap item anyway, so I don't think which slot is that critical.

I don't have Tharnes, but I do have my conc opp/hp cleansed goggles from prior caster lives and I'd hate to lose 45hp to heal myself XD Unless I'm missing something essential for melees in the cloak slot (heroic levels)?

    Hi,

I'd try to pick a slot where no swap is required. Goggles might be okay if you don't have anything else in mind for there. I have to confess I don't like gear swaps, especially for things which you might want to use in a hurry, such as a heal scroll in combat.

If you are planning to have it as a swap item, you do need to be a little careful about the slot you pick. That's because you may not want to take some crucial piece of gear off in order to use the swap item. Something that will cause a problem if you take it off or forget to put it back on later.

For what it's worth, my ranger has triple air bracers (chas skills and SP) which he uses with the upgraded sora kell set and tharne's goggles in the mid to late levels. HP comes either from cloak or belt, and immunity item is on the neck.

    Thanks.

For a melee like that, I like the Neck as a swap spot ... but that's me.

Personally, I wear Mantle permanently so I can use the scads of awesome trinkets available. I don't like swapping XP item in/out, even more so when I'm trying to maximize XP/min most of the time.

I can understand not doing goggles for UMD if you already have conopp there. I always do conopp HP on gloves.

I also have hp concop goggles on my melee. I wanted a +cha skill item too.

I went for boots. it seemed like a good swap slot.

i think there were only 3 options:
    triple air airguard +6cha skills
trap the soul guard with blindness ward/disease immunity/+5 cha skills
lightnung strike guard with +6cha skills.

Im low on ingr so i went air. But i would have done trap the soul guard if i were loaded.

I'd go with goggles for HPs, cloak for CHA skills. At heroic levels there aren't a lot of good cloaks for a melee. You can swap to the Mantle for XP bonus at the end of quests if desired.

As far as effect, Air II is probably the most useful, but a Pos II might also be worth considering. It's also a single shard, and gives a raise dead clicky as well as greater disruption guard.

I've found that it's better not to put a damage guard on these as it can interfere with the mechanics of some quests or mobs. Think about future lives and optimize for that, Air Guard is a cheap, solid choice on a +6 Cha skills SP item and works for both casters and UMD/SP melee.

I can only wish for a smoke2/cha skills XD Seeing as I'll also be able to scroll displace (or I ought to, anyway) with a +cha skills and planning to get the cannith bracers by 12 (14 at the latest), I'm leaning most towards a Vacuum2 for the giggles; if it's proc rate is anything like Lit2 or Enervation I'd be moderately satisfied with the cost. That said though, I seem to have the gloves slot free for heroic levels as well; are there any moderately good gloves for melee? I'm wearing the claw set at the moment, and while the +2 damage is nice, I'll be swapping out my bracers soon enough for the permablur anyway.

Basically, you want a swap slot where you won't have HP (be it from GS, False life or Con) or HA (since you'll use it to heal). A safe spot seems to be cloak, that will probably be devoted to Wolf or Bear cloak. Con can go in many different spots so it's hard to predict (trinket, armor, helm, boots, belt, bracers, gloves). Gloves is to exclude (30% HA with PDK or Claw) as well as bracers (unless you plan to slot 20% HA in your ToD ring).

*Edit: I second the Air guard proposal. It's very handy to have these SP at disposal if/when you use ED healing (like Rejuvenation).

If you're thinking of future/class proofing, the goggles, head and necklace slots are all good. I have my HP item on my goggles, but the neck slot can work for an SP item, you can equip it for shrining then re-equip your torc.
