We have Caused the Death of an Entire Race, Complete Distruction of an Ancent Civilazation, and Sown Discored in the Masses of the World, And we have only just begun
Common enough build. I'm assuming you want to go Tempest. Keep in mind that a Tempest build requires you to take Dodge, Mobility and Spring Attack as pre reqs to the PrE.
If this build was mainly for ranged, I'd suggest either pure Ranger or a 10k stars build (google one)
What Race would you like to be?
Human, Half orc - both work well with Khopeshes (Khopeshi? lol)
Drow - Rapiers
Elf - Scimitars
You might try 12 ranger 7 fighter 1 rogue, taking rogue at level 1 and you can easily set yourself up with UMD, Disable Device and Open Lock. Rogue skills fit in well as Rangers get a good amount of skill points and not lots to do with them. & fighter gets you Toughness 3 and haste boost 3
If you don't fancy rogueyness, consider going 14 ranger 6 fighter. 14 Ranger gets you the Freedom spell and Cure Serious Wounds. Both of which will make you a little more self sufficient and helpful to the party.
I've done the below pretty quickly on the fly, but I think it would work as a half decent all rounder with good solo capability. Pretty good self healing, acceptable DPS, UMD ability for scrolls and what not, lock and trap skills.
The only Tome I have accounted for is a +2 Strength used at level 20. This will be required to take Over Whelming Critical. Which is more or less a must have feat for DPS (IMO)
Take Overwhelming Crit at level 21, and put a point in strength at level 24 to even the stat out. That leaves you with one feat to do whatever. Personally I like Two Weapon Defense because of the +5 to PRR. You could take Over Sized Two Weapon Fighting.Code:Character Plan by DDO Character Planner Version 03.09.02 DDO Character Planner Home Page Jack Of All Level 20 True Neutral Human Male (7 Fighter \ 1 Rogue \ 12 Ranger) Hit Points: 334 Spell Points: 140 BAB: 19\19\24\29\29 Fortitude: 16 Reflex: 15 Will: 5 Starting Feat/Enhancement Abilities Base Stats Modified Stats (32 Point) (Level 1) (Level 20) Strength 16 25 Dexterity 14 16 Constitution 16 17 Intelligence 14 14 Wisdom 8 8 Charisma 8 8 Tomes Used +2 Tome of Strength used at level 20 Starting Feat/Enhancement Base Skills Modified Skills Skills (Level 1) (Level 20) Balance 6 11 Bluff 2 3 Concentration 3 4 Diplomacy 3 4 Disable Device 6 22 Haggle 3 3 Heal -1 -1 Hide 2 3 Intimidate -1 0 Jump 7 11 Listen -1 -1 Move Silently 2 3 Open Lock 6 23 Perform n/a n/a Repair 2 2 Search 6 25 Spot 3 19 Swim 7 11 Tumble 3 4 Use Magic Device 3 21 Level 1 (Rogue) Feat: (Human Bonus) Dodge Feat: (Selected) Toughness Level 2 (Ranger) Feat: (Favored Enemy) Favored Enemy: Undead Level 3 (Ranger) Feat: (Selected) Mobility Level 4 (Ranger) Level 5 (Ranger) Level 6 (Ranger) Feat: (Favored Enemy) Favored Enemy: Construct Feat: (Selected) Spring Attack Level 7 (Ranger) Level 8 (Fighter) Feat: (Fighter Bonus) Power Attack Level 9 (Fighter) Feat: (Selected) Cleave Feat: (Fighter Bonus) Improved Critical: Slashing Weapons Level 10 (Fighter) Level 11 (Fighter) Feat: (Fighter Bonus) Weapon Focus: Slashing Weapons Level 12 (Fighter) Feat: (Selected) Great Cleave Level 13 (Fighter) Feat: (Fighter Bonus) Weapon Specialization: Slashing Weapons Level 14 (Fighter) Level 15 (Ranger) Feat: (Selected) Exotic Weapon Proficiency: Khopesh Level 16 (Ranger) Level 17 (Ranger) Level 18 (Ranger) Feat: (Selected) Empower Healing Spell Feat: (Favored Enemy) Favored Enemy: Evil Outsider Level 19 (Ranger) Level 20 (Ranger) Enhancement: Fighter Attack Boost I Enhancement: Fighter Attack Boost II Enhancement: Fighter Haste Boost I Enhancement: Fighter Haste Boost II Enhancement: Fighter Haste Boost III Enhancement: Ranger Skill Boost I Enhancement: Ranger Skill Boost II Enhancement: Ranger Skill Boost III Enhancement: Ranger Sprint Boost I Enhancement: Kensei Khopesh Mastery I Enhancement: Fighter Critical Accuracy I Enhancement: Fighter Critical Accuracy II Enhancement: Fighter Kensei I Enhancement: Human Adaptability Constitution I Enhancement: Human Improved Recovery I Enhancement: Human Improved Recovery II Enhancement: Human Improved Recovery III Enhancement: Racial Toughness I Enhancement: Racial Toughness II Enhancement: Racial Toughness III Enhancement: Ranger Tempest I Enhancement: Ranger Tempest II Enhancement: Rogue Sneak Attack Training I Enhancement: Ranger Devotion I Enhancement: Ranger Devotion II Enhancement: Ranger Devotion III Enhancement: Ranger Devotion IV Enhancement: Ranger Dexterity I Enhancement: Ranger Dexterity II Enhancement: Fighter Strength I Enhancement: Fighter Strength II Enhancement: Fighter Toughness I Enhancement: Fighter Toughness II Enhancement: Fighter Toughness III Enhancement: Rogue Improved Trap Sense I
Like I say I did this on the fly so I may have made mistakes, and it probably isn't the best build around, but it would work.

Level 20 commoner.
I was just looking on what I could do, and I agree on what you sugested but what I was thinking was Ranger 12 for tempist 2, Fighter 6 for Stalwart Defender(Stacking 10% HP, +4 STR and +4 CON) which in my opinnion has more to gain in this build than kensi, and 2 barb for barb STR 1 and rage + Damage boost.
We have Caused the Death of an Entire Race, Complete Distruction of an Ancent Civilazation, and Sown Discored in the Masses of the World, And we have only just begun
SD 1 is only +2 STR/CON, FWIW. It isn't horrible, but it is somewhat limited and locks out rage / madstone when in stance. It's no Kensai 2, but I don't think it's cut and dried on a build like this (Barb splash, etc.) that Kensai 1 is the worst option. If you front-load the ranger to get the TWF feats, etc. then you're not even talking about getting there (SD1) until at least 18, providing you then take Barb levels last. You could get some of the feats earlier, but not the PRE.
SD 1 gives
- 10% HP
- +2 STR/CON in stance, no rages
- Slower movement
- 10 more PRR, 15 total
- 10% boost to AC from armor and shields (not sure if this multiplies the tempest's shield bonus)
Kensai 1 gives
- +1 action boots
- +1 tactical DCs
Tempest 3 gives
- 5% doublestrike w/ main hand
- 2 more AC from shield bonus
- 5 more PRR (10 total)
Granted, the fighter levels give you some feats, but you may not need them. What's your goal? If you were thinking tactics, I'd definitely go Kensai before SD. If you were thinking more general, I'd probably go Tempest 3.
Ghallanda - now with fewer alts and more ghostbane
Barbarian Rage and Stalwart Defender will not work together. Barbarians get Con upgrades not Strength.
I'm actually about to try a Ranger Stalwart Defender out myself so I don't think its an impossible mix.
In fact I dont think Kensai I is that great compared to SD I, but it does give you a little bit more DPS which is why I included it in the above build.
Rangers get Diehard for free so all you need to qualify is Improved Intimidate I & II
As to whether the 10% bonus to AC works for the Tempest shield bonus or not, thats an interesting one and I'll check, but I have a feeling it won't...
