why concentration is so necessary to monk ?

I am trying to build a monk (my first real one after a lot of fail in the past year).
So... consider me a noob in monk class.

i saw a build with concentration as skill to increase, i wonder why is it so useful for monks...

would someone explain me the obivious that i miss ?

Specifically under favored skills - Concentration:
For characters with ki, concentration allows you to retain more base ki and slows the rate at which your ki dissipates.

Basically the Higher your concentration the more Ki you have to play with!
