    -- but anyways looks nice....

    for my self
    i have a 12 barb 6 fighter 2 rogue- aa/trapper/warchanter which is severly fun :3
    then i also have an insane intimidate sorta tank
    8 fighter 6 barb 6 bard
    kensai 1/barb frenzy/warchanter....
    Both input and output tons of damage ....
    and both can be made into survivability

    Drop dex 14 (buy a +3 tome), increase Int into 14, this should allow you to do traps rather comfortably.

    12 i think is enough,
    10 is way to close cutting it...

    i would also change charisma to 12 for 10 is low but 12 is the magic spot :3

    Firstly do u know what u want to achieve with your 34 pt build.

    It is my view that a ftr8/barb6/bard6 is not a bard! It could be considered as a basis for a mongrel sort of confused axe swingy noise making thingy.

    Your songs will do jack (will sacrifice to make your perform DC credible), no significant self heal or reliable UMD, no evasion, no trapping, you probably wont have the armour or the feats or HP or PPR or saves or ....... to tank anything other than the bottom of an empty ale barrel.

    FUN - yes probably up to a certain point. Recommended for the TR investment it will take - not by me.

    Honestly I struggle to see how above alt, and the word survivability could be worked into the same sentence.


    I believe it is possible to achieve some good barding based on your original class mix -ie bard 15-16, ftr2, Rog2-3. Survivable too.

    Consider Virtuoso over WC to really build on your songs.

    balance, conc, perform, UMD. Search and DD if going trapper.

    It is possible to achieve mid 60's perform DC, low 60's search and Disable, low 40's reflex (with evasion), TWF or THF spec, able to take over emergency party healer etc
    on a 32 pt build bard16/ftr2/rog2.
    U could even include Brutal Throw feat for low (but reliable ranged option) if alt is STR based.

    i have a 8 fighter 6 barb 6bard and i input enough to even output greater....
    i can use healscrolls...
    i can also have songs..
    sure my perform skill won't be nearly as great as a level 20 bard.. but it still works..... and i still can obtain a high amount...
    with the amount of strength i can reach its insane....

    i'd avoid taking weapon focus ranged... really no need for it.. being your a human point blank shot is all you want(because you said you wanted to do bow damage on the side)

    i'd go for improved sunder instead
    but if not possible.. then take something worth while like for me i took +3 skill to umd, of course i did not spec in range so i also took many toughness(i think) not quite sure....

    I accept that my views may be nothing more than "such false accusation" - providing of course it can be proven to be false.

    break it down for me if u will - how will you get off heal scrolls while raged? if not raged then what will be your Conc skill on those heal scrolls while being in melee doing DPS?
    And if scrolling to heal but disengaging from Melee - how are u doing DPS?

    What do your songs contribute to a party?

    How much is your Perform DC that allows you to support your claim "a high amount".

    What will your STR be and how will that help be a survivable WC when you dont even get displace or haste spell and wont even get credit for a bard life if u make it to TR again?

    Dont get me wrong - we all get to play our alts our way. What I'm not so sure about is your quality of advice when responding to the OP feedback re a survivable 34 Pt Warchanter build.

    Ok so u got me there. R U suggesting he takes bows and arrows and Point Blank Shot with a lvl 20 modified stat DEX score of 17? All that gear and item space used up when u cant hit the broad side of a barn?
    R U promoting this as a better option than using 1 feat and 1 returning throwing axe?

    Why wouldn't it be possible for him to take Improved sunder? Both his builds meet the requirements.

    And u use a precious feat on Skill Focus - UMD on a supposed Bard?

    Ok, here's my 2 cents, for what its worth. Dont listen to these yahoos talkin about all these levels of barb and or fighter. If you want to make a melee dps, MAKE A BARB OR A FIGHTER. If you want a survivable (I.E. self-healing, self-buffing) BARD, you need bard levels, and more than just SIX. You had the right idea sticking with a 16/2/2 type build. Plus, when you hit 20, it also allows you to take the feat inspire excellence for +2 to all stats, not to mention making you buffs and songs last longer, and making your inspire courage worth having. Also, take your first lvl as bard, to increase the amount of skill points you get. If you want to take the THF route, drop all your ranged stuff. You dont need precise shot if you are swinging a greataxe around. If you need to range something, get a good returning throwing axe. I don't really know too much about ranged bards, but as for THF melee bards, I think I can be of some use.
    A.- 14 dex is still a bit high. If you are not dual wielding, you dont need so much. For ref save purposes, 10-12 should be sufficient. You would be better served putting those extra stat points in con, str or cha. Honestly, 10-12 cha is plenty.
    B.- Feats. You WILL want: Power Attack, IC: slashing, Maximize, Toughness (multiple times, if possible). Other noteworthy feats are: Emp healiing, Extend, Quicken (really more of a must have feat) THF line (THF, Imp THF, Greater THF) Force of Personality, and Mental Toughness/Improved Mental Toughness. UMD focus isn't really important, as you should be sitting around at least 32-36 @ lvl 20 with no gear or buffs. You have the right idea on skills to pump, so far as I see- UMD, perform, balance, concentration. Drop listen, its a waste of a skill. If you have extras, think about jump and haggle (and/or search and DD if you go with rogue lvls) As for lvl ups, pump str.
    C.- Also, consider making a blindness immunity/+5 cha skills/150 sp greensteel item and a GS great axe of some variety, if you haven't done so already.

    I generally agree with Aegon.

    Bard lvl 15 with 20 trained ranks in perform is what u need for Inspire Excellence song which is obtainable at lvl 21.

    "UMD 36-38 @ lvl 20 with no gear or buffs" with base CHA 12-14 and pumping STR at level ups got my attention.

    Feat wise I wouldn’t take Emp Healing nor any of the Mental Toughness line. I would probably only take Extend OR Quicken but that is neither here nor there. Good arguments exist for taking both.

    Good advice re making "+5 cha skills/150 sp greensteel item and a GS great axe" before u TR (though that cant be counted as no gear for UMD 36-38 eh Aegon )

    Meh......

    i just dislike when there is more of one of the same set up.. for isntance, i see too many 16 2 fight 2 rogue......

    I still go with whatever you choose....
    and about the improve sunder , i rarely even take the feat so i don't know much about it, sure it is awesome when its not on cooldown but when it saves..... ah well its just an opinion....

    8 fighter 6 barb 6 bard
    can scroll hea but of course not when raged.... if it gonna solo, then take damage reductions when your getting hit more than your outputting (as in caster area) quest) then don't rage, but does not stop you from using frenzy....
    not all the time will you have to scroll heal
    like a pure bard trying to melee....
    i've ran up a pure bard to 20, and man was it a steep and long run... i had to reset it, or get rid of it before it got any worse... sure it had what the *forum* claims to be best... but it was not the best...
    and then i created a 8 fighter 6 barb 6bard and it does wicked damage....
    ... sure you will not get what a level 15 or 16 bard gets, but still it can work...
    about the perform skill
    its able to reach into 60-70's i don't quite know what the set up... but i wouldnt see you fascinating(maybe killing your way) your way through level 20.....

    and yet again, not even when i finished my level 20 bard, it did not have 35-36 umd...... so.... it came with around 28-29.....

    also... Because of the new update.. To hit does not matter..... If my warforge wizard level 18 can hit stuff in elite even a boss.. with a mere 16 strength... To hit does not matter...
    sure you won't be doing alot of damage compared to a true ranger, but it is still damage....
    Skill focus umd
    helps greatly.....
    it allows you less gear to farm.. less gear to focus into umd....

    Ok, ya got meh on the UMD thing. I was lazy and didn't want to log in just to check some stats. If you max out umd every lvl w/16 bard/2barb/2 fig, you end up with 26 umd (Did the math in my head- 19 from bard lvls, 1 from fighter lvls, 1 from barb lvls, assuming a mere 20 cha. Add 1 umd if you take 2 rogue lvls instead.) Still, there is a plethora of gear/buffs to help with that: 5(or 6) from GS, 3 from that deleras necklace, 3 from epic big top, 2 from head of good fortune (or slotted good fortune on an epic item), 2 from ship buffs, 4 from gh, etc. Plus, you get +1 to all skills for every epic lvl. So by the time you get to endgame, as long as you pumped umd, you should be good.

    Tx for your reply. I guess I was interested in understanding/appreciating what perform Skill u achieve with what set up u use when u play on your 8/6/6 alt.

    As for fascinating my way through lvl 20 - it's probably one of only a few things I have a fair chance succeeding at when playing EE current content now at lvl 25.

    Hi Angiaks here is just one of many possibilities for a 34 point bard (with some survivability). Only thing is that is is Virtuoso, not War Chanter.

    Of note: perform of 36 DC base with ability to fascinate constructs and undead, plenty of songs. Evasion, built-in heal amp 20%. Reasonable trapping and reasonable emergency healing (just remember to use Devotion item/weapon).

    This is TWF but can be THF, replace extend and maximise if u like for cleave and great cleave which leaves u ready for Overwhelming Critical and Inspire Excellence etc later on.

    Go Human for an extra feat etc.

    Just food for thought is all.
