    Default Other than DDO...

...what games do you play, plan to play, or have played in the recent past?

    for me:

    • Terraria
    • Team Fortress 2
    • Half-Life series
    • Dungeon Defenders
    • Portal 2
    • LIMBO
    • Dear Esther (90 minutes of gameplay, but it was BEAUTIFUL)
    • Guns of Icarus Online (pre-ordered, played Guns of Icarus and it was fine)
    • Killing Floor (bought weeks ago but haven't touched)
    • Star Trek Online (months ago. Quit. Had very little at endgame)

Also, general discussion of games in here.

    Go!

    I played:

    • Bastion
    • Portal
    • Team Fortress 2
    • Spelunky
    • The Witcher
    • Saints Row the Third
    • TES IV: Oblivion (need to finish)
    • TES V: Skyrim (need to finish)
    • Fallout New Vegas (need to finish)
    • Persona 3: FES (need to finish)
    • Persona 4 (need to finish)

I have seriously problems with open worlds RPG's. I often take a lot of quests and start to ignore the main quest, and I only notice it after checking how many hours I spent with the games without advancing the main quest.

See, I can't play other MMOs... When I take a break from DDO, I always play a different genre...

I love FPS (First Person Shooter games). I spent years playing the different Battlefield games... Mafia II and the Max Payne games are also awesome

I also love real-time strategy like Warcraft and Starcraft

I'm waiting for a chance to play Neverwinter online and Elder Scrolls online. I haven't played any version of either yet but the reviews for them are great and the look of the previews for those is pretty sweet. Guild Wars 2 looks too much like wow graphics to me but that doesn't completely put it out of consideration.

I'd probably like an open world game very much if the travel times between points of interest were short and there were a variety of modes of travel. The only downside I've ever had in open world games before were the number of random encounters that had to be fought on the way to the destination.

Oh on a side note I'd appreciate posters not abbreviating games that haven't been already named as I'm looking for something else to play while I wait for new releases. Throw a bit of review in there too. I would be interested to know what people really liked.

Have you ever played Age of Empires II or III? They're easily some of the best RTS games out there. Age of Empires II: Age of Kings was the first "I'm going to accidentally play this past midnight" game of my youth.

DDO and EVE can't really be compared - DDO is like an online multiplayer RPG, EVE is more like online Diplomacy with RTS elements. IMO they are different enough to play both.

Well starting from back in the day and working forward it would be....

    Phantasie
    Phantasie II
    Phantasie III
    Phantasie IV
    Pools of Radiance
    Curse of the Azure Bonds
    Secret of the Silver Blades
    Pools of Darkness
    Might and Magic (Sega Genesis)
    ShadowRun (Sega Genesis)
    Ultima Online
    NeverWinter Nights Online
    City of Heroes
    City of Villains
    DDO

The best part is I still have my original Commodore 64 and all my games on floppy disks and they still work.

Full of strange oaths, and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel,

Just got finished playing a few rounds in the last Guns of Icarus Online Beta session.

It's looking to be a very awesome game.

Cool! I've had my eye on it but hadn't wanted to pre-order yet since the first one got such bad reviews. Maybe I'll do so in a week or two.

For its price, you get what you pay for. IIRC it's $5 on Steam normally, I got it on sale for $1.24. It's a good game, but definitely has some flaws.

They're putting a lot more work into GOIO. The gameplay trailer looks very good, and it's 5 months old. The closed beta I was in today is even better.

Also, always gotta love Indie games.
