    Default Monk build Assistance please

I currently have a WF Sorc who was TR'd from a Drow Wiz. For his next life id like to create a Monk build but I've never played one. I've done some reading but still a little confused. The only race I don't have is HE. I've read that thisseems to be a popular choice due to Dilettante feat but don't understand how this works. Im willing to buy it if this is the best way to go. I want to be able to self-heal reliably and bring the DPS (which i also read isthe domain of the Dark Monk). Am i right in assuming Dark Monks can't self heal?
Any advice from experienced Monk players on what is important would be really helpful. I'll have 36 pt build to play with, +2 tomes all round and a couple of +3 (so far CON & CHA but possibly WIS too)
    Thx in advance!

A few things occur to me:
    • +20% damage 5/day for 20 seconds is great for monk from Versatility: Damage.
    • +3d6 Sneak Attack from Rogue Dilettante is massive for monk as you can get your SA reliably vs almost all foes with stunning fist/unbalancing strike.
    • With half-elf and monk healing amp and heal amp gear you can self heal fine just with cure serious pots
    • With a little bit of work you can use cure serious wands (which when combined with a devotion item and the above healing amp can hit for 100 to 150).
    • With a lot of work you can use heal scrolls (or use cleric dilettante) though this is easier for a light monk
    • Monks have 4 important stats so (Greater) Adaptability can really help to even them out depending on current gear

    Thx for the feedback.

I do like being self-sufficient. So youre suggesting a HE then?
