    Default Clerics and Their Sheilds

What's a good shield to carry as a cleric and where would I find said shield? (P.S. - not a crafter)

I also like to use the Mirror Shield from Diplomatic Impunity. The Stone Prison on Hit is a good defensive guard for reducing incoming Melee Damage.

I realize many don't put stock in being able to Turn Undead, but I have found with the right equipment such as this shield it can be very effective.

Madstone shield is good and not too hard to get.

    Either hound shield is fantastic.

If you are a clonk, Epic Swashbuckler +4 insight to saves can push you from evasion being "OK" to "useful".

Being able to divine punish and shieldblock can be a great asset to a party-particularly if you are built for it (600+ hp, DR, torc, concops, shield mastery, anathema yadda yadda...it's easier as fvs but clerics can do it as well)

Everything Mech said.... + Shield Of Reflecting from Diplomatic Impunity (essentially 5% chance of a mob getting flesh to stoned [always procs, 5% rate is assuming that they only fail save on a 1] )

Also, Leviks gives more % DR than lorriks if you have the feats, but has ASF %.

ESwashbuckler is good. +4 to saves that stacks with a bunch of other stuff is good. (Crystal Cove, ML 20, Upgradable item. T2/T3 advised)

Light and Darkness is also solid. Decent DR, bunch of solid effects, cool looking shield. (Mind Sunderer, disc-locked chest. ML 18, Supressed Power)

Levik's is strong for pure blocking DR. DR 15 while blocking kills a decent bit of incoming damage. (Hound of Xoriat, ML 13, all difficulties, Levik's Set Piece)

Lorrik's is also a solid shield. Provides more divine benefits than the Levik's but is EXTREMELY RARE. (Hound of Xoriat, ML 13, all difficulties, Lorrik's Set Piece)

Bad idea. Shields uncenter a monk. I think they disable Evasion as well, but looking at the wiki suggests otherwise.

BYOH. Know it, abide by it, or don't mess with those who do.

I picked up Ward of Undeath the other day. Undead bane, flaming, ghost touch. But it looks like these only process if I'm bashing. Is that right? If so, it's not as great as I thought.
What do you mean a -6 armor class is no good any more?

You can still evade with a shield. It will uncentre a monk as you said, which will knock you out of stance (lose 2 WIS if you're in Ocean), and unable to do light buffs if you're 17/3.

Sometimes, it's worth it to do so. Sometimes, it's not.

Just procs on a bash. The epic version, however, has rather high DR. Not quite as good as the Hound tower shield, but close behind.

Also, some are recommending Alchemical shields now.

A final note, keep Divine Power up when you are blocking. Increasing your BaB will increase your blocking DR.

A clonk with a shield still has evasion.

I've confused folks at times, because when I go all out healbot on my clonk (ToD part 3, MA, LoB, for example) I pull out my shield. I even have Shield Mastery, just for such occasions. (It also gets used soloing vs. tough end bosses... turtling up and DP is crazy powerful.)

Works great. Sure, its agains the normal "do one thing, and do it really well" that some folks aim for on DDO. But I like being able to melee when I'm not worried about a wipe to speed things up / save resources, and yet go into crazy defensive mode when that is appropriate.

Honestly... even though I spent a feat on it, I don't pull the shield out much. But since when I do, its some of the hardest content I run, it seems a feat well spent to me.

Someone once told me the best way to CC Echrono was 4 fvs stacked on top of each other shieldblocking with Shield of Reflecting

As for Eswashbuckler, yes, it will uncenter you. So it's really a net gain of 2 saves I think (no water stance). As Sarisa said, situationally worth it. Being able to reliably save vs epic traps is very nice indeed. It is, however, a buckler so won't get % DR from shield mastery feats-though I could be wrong about that, as it is hard to test ingame, particularly as level 6 at the moment on my main

ASF not being much of a consideration on a cleric...

It may not be a cleric, but I'm rather enjoying my new Epic Kundarak Warding Shield on my fvs. DR 12 heavy shield with Resistance +6, so it's situationally very useful. (On my FvS, I have to carry a tower shield and a heavy shield because of shield mastery, because the heavy shield can make it hard to get mana back in non-epic quests, so I also use the Madstone Shield...gonna be replacing that with Levik's, though.)

Alchemical, Sup Dev 9 and the stacking Wisdom +2. (Flametouched Iron, any Mystical, then water martial, tier 3 is gravy but not necessary)

If it was only Sup Dev 9 it would be a great option for most clerics.

If it was only Alchemical Wisdom +2 it would be unquestioned best in slot for max-Wisdom clerics.

It's both of those, and more.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

I must say this again just for it's awesome...I didn't even want alchemicals on my fvs for a long time until I saw that this is possible...and only needs to be tier 2 to be awesome. Personally planning to do tier 3 earth eventually as well for the spell pen.

Until you get the fancy stuff, I liked a +5 Deathblock Heavy Shield on my cleric (although the graphical skin was terrible). Tower Shield is only another 2 blocking DR and my cleric jumped poorly enough as it was, a further -8 didn't bear contemplating. If you can find one of Axeblock that's pretty sweet too, but if you won't craft your options will probably be pretty limited.

If I didn't have anything better, a big Adamantine w/ Life Shield on it is nice
Ghallanda - now with fewer alts and more ghostbane
