Angry Cloud kill Broken for Earth savant!

    Hello all

I have wanted to play an earth savant since I heard about update 9.

so when it came out I tried earth savant I with my sorc, to my surprise cloudkill did like half the damage it did before I took earth savant.

After every patch since I have checked, still worse damage as an earth savant then any sorc/wiz

I began to think maybe it's just earth savant I since I couldn't find anyone else talking about this problem.

So I used a Flawless Siberys and got spell Focus: conjuration, so now I'm an Earth Savant III...

    ... CLOUD KILL STILL BROKEN

To add the the frustration I have yet to see this problem in the known issues, or to read a post from an Admin that it will ever be fixed

ok so cloud kill is not the major DPS spell for Earth savant, but should it be gimped?

    in a word LAME

Still love this game, and hope this makes it in to a fix soon

looks like the same story with lightning storm (dragonmark) on air savant.

Yeah it's pretty sad that my wizards crummy damage was higher than my earth savant's damage on cloudkill, I hope to hear that the Dev's are aware of this issue soon.

Wow, lightning storm on air savants is even worse though, since that costs feats, how terrible that must be for people who were hoping air savant would make their storms better.

Just chiming in to say that this indeed needs to be looked at. Hard to say, but judging by the numbers, it may only be doing flat 2d6 (ie, lacking any level component at all for earth savants). It is basically doing less than a third of the damage it should be, and a little less than half of what my (0 acid line) wizard's does.

Anybody tried it on an air savant? Sounds almost like they misclassed the spell as Air instead of Earth.

i use it now on air savant as concealment fog for bosses. DC/damage wise it is screwed like it should ;-)

Given the con damage, I'd hope untyped compared to air honestly as acid damage is acid damage. It may have been wrapped in a breaking IF statement however given the dual damage.

Cloudkill used to be poison which damaged the constitution.
Do the feats empower and maximize work on it for eath savant's or not?

Maybe it's the dual damage part of that spell what is causing it to break?

Default Have read update 11 notes

I have read the notes for update 11

there is a new spell for acid but no word about cloud kill

of course the new spell is 8th level and would be cool IF one could find some type of potency to effect it, I have 2 items that have Glaciation 8, but have no idea where to get corrosion 8.

so the new spell isn't enough to make me want to play an earth savant yet

So when (if ever) are the devs going to at least admit the problem with cloudkill on earth savants?

The new raids have craftable items that will be Superior Erosion IX/Superior Acid Lore, or some such.

It's savants in general. They are **** as a pre. It works on VERY few spells (and makes some even worse as noted)

It's just turbine boosted casters in a huge way in U9.. So everyone said oh wahtever savants are overpowered. When they PrE itself certainly was not, just certain spells in general were. (Death spells, DoTs)

When in reality, it's was a garbage PrE, then it got nerfed down into a joke of a PrE.. Just got lost in the shuffle that was U9 massively unbalancing the game towards casters.

Pretty much the only spell I think it's even close to worthwhile in boosting is polar ray, which gains around 25-30% dmg boost.

Aside from polar ray sorcs would be far better off with something like angels of vegeance general +20% dmg boost.

    Default Just an update

if you are an earth savant then you may already know that cloud kill is still broken

it does less damage for my earth savant 3 with all the acid enhancements

then it did with the same toon as a water savant with only the first point in acid line

Would STILL like to see this in the known issues
