    Default Suicidal fish?

So, my parents have this small man-made pond in their back yard.
Within this 'small pond' they had a few large goldfish which seemed to have disappeared with the hard freeze over the winter.
They decided it would be a good idea to clean out their 'pond' yesterday.
Anyways, they began emptying the 'pond' and had given up all hope of finding any survivors when they reached to about 1 foot of water left.
Of course at this point the water remaining was a algae/muck/green/nastiness.
Then Father noticed some 'movement' and discovered one of these fish was actually still alive.
They removed said fish and placed him into the cattle trough (a large 100-150 gallon galvanized water tank).
After much work and tenacity they found that 3 of their 'fish' had survived the winter.
All of them were displaced into this tank where Mother feared the worst about their survival.
They went to check on them last evening and discovered one of them floating on top, still alive, yet gasping.
Father decided to add some air to the water with a compressor and they seemed to get better for a while.
This morning Mother went to check on these creatures and found one of them lying on the ground outside the tank, again, gasping, yet not deceased.
This afternoon She went to check on them again and found one of them 'lying on the bottom of the tank' gasping.
Henceforth, they have been donned as the 'suicidal fish' and shall remain so until they shall perish.
I thought it was funny anyways..

one morning we found that one of our fish had jumped out of the tank in the night and had died. these fish often jumped out of the water and this one had jumped too far. we started with 12 fish and now we have 4, this was the only one to kill itself.

i have no idea why your fish are acting that way. maybe you have insane fish?

    Default lol did they?

Please tell me they removed the clorien from the water in the tank? If they didnt I feel sorry for the fish. Clorine in the water is for fish what a mild aid in the air would be for humans. It sounds like they forgot this inportant step. Also most "cold water fish" like goldfish and there more expensive relatives Koi survive the winter by staying near the botem of the pond (its warmer there as long as the water's deep enugh)
    just thought you should know.
