    Default TR ing a Monster

    Hi all,

After some advice with regard to a TR.
I have a lvl 20 Monster build (12F/6R/2M) and am looking to TR him to a 34 point build.
The look of a pure fighter TWF Half Orc has caught my eye but am not to sure if i should just TR into a 34 pt Monster.
Is there any benifit going the Half Orc path? I know DPS might be a bit higher but has the Monster build past its sell by date?

    Cheers

common split these days is the blitz 12 fighter/6 barb/2x x = rogue, ranger, or bard. Although without a barbarian past life you will be out -4str/-4 con from some1 with a barb past life.

Monster builds are still viable just not the flavor of the month anymore.

Horc's are the best dps option, although slightly lacking on defense compared to wf due to no dr and -60 hitpoints from (-2base, -2enhancements con, -2 enhancements toughness)

20 fighter is also very powerful, but will have less survivability and versatility to monster and blitz(weaker ranged, no evasion ,less umd, less stunning blow dc)

The changes to tempest I have certainly hurt the builds damage output, but there seems to be this misconception that the build is no longer any good. Personally i would swap the two monk levels for rogue for 1d6+3 SA damage and UMD and go half orc to get the most dps out of the build. In the right conditions, only a rogue heavy build will be doing more damage.

However, your damage is more inconsistent as a significant amount comes from fighting your favoured enemy and SA damage. With only two favoured enemies your relatively dps compared to other builds will usually vary depending on what your fighting; if you fight your favoured enemy you'll be slightly a head in dps, if not you'll be slightly behind.

There isn't a huge difference in their damage output though and the top dps builds, excluding builds with lots of rogue levels, all hover roughy over the same point.

Do you only need 1 level of barb to have the past life feat available? I have a monster and was thinking to tr to blitz after lring away the monk levels for barbarian it would be a bit expensive since i would have to change alignment too

To qualify for the barb past life you need to have a toon who is predominately barb, so 10+ barbarian levels, and tr them. You then have to take the barbarian past life feat.

However, it's worth considering that the barbarian past life feat is not working as intended and may be 'fixed' some time in the future. Without the feat the duration of your rages will be reduced and you will not recieve the +4 to str, lowering your dps.

So back on topic ref the Monster build. Can anyone with a 34 point build comment and perhaps link a build?
Does the versatilty of the build still hold current at end game or should I sacrafice this for more dps?
With time and effot invested in my original build i'm just wanting to double make sure Im not wasting resources..

    Many thanks
