    Default Icy Prison and #winning?

    So I picked the water savant line yesterday with my lvl20 sorc, and then went tooling around for awhile to test things out and see how well I could blast stuff. Went to the vale and pretty much was just one shot everything with polar ray and thought to myself meh, this is cool(no pun intended) but frying a big pile of monsters with chain lightning would be more fun. So I left still debating which line I really wanted to end up with. Ice, acid, electric?

    Then I joined a shroud this morning and we get to part4 and I click on Icy prison on Harry and he takes damage, passes the fort save for half which I expected, then he turns blue and stops moving because he fails the reflex save for trapped in ice! He is there for eh...maybe 5sec max moving Really slow/not moving at all while the melee are just beating him down. Then same for part5 every time Icy prison comes off timer I hit him with it and same result ice damage and then Blue and slow/not moving. I forgot to ask the melee after the quest but I don't know if he is considered helpless when he is stuck in ice??

    Working as Intended? / Bug? / Awesome either way!

    So..then the question/s is if you had enough water savants to overlap Icy prison timers could you keep him always in Ice?

    Also haven't had enough time to get into any other raids yet to test on other bosses. But for the moment really happy I stayed with water savant!

    p.s. this was a norm shroud run.

    Interesting. Makes me wonder if the Earth Savant Earthgrab ability would work on purple names...

    Do you see the "nerf X class" posts all over these forums? There are enough epeen envious players in the game that any sorc that happened to do this in a shroud (pug or non) would have anywhere between 1-5 players screaming "OMG NERF!" and submit bug reports or come to the forums crying about how melee aren't needed any more in high level content.

    For evidence of that just take a look at the Lam forums from when the Savants were first previewed, pre-nerf.

    Ridag is right one this one. This has been bug reported for sure by now whether it hit the forums or not. Just be happy that the knowledge is now shared and there will be even MORE Ice Savants helping out with shrouds.

    Quickly, get your All-Ice Savant shrouds ready to go at least once before they nerf it!

    Thank you! The only secrets you can keep in this game are the ones that are never shared or seen. Every caster has there own list of secret farming spots and tricks, an ability on what is probably the most popular savant, in the most pugged quest in the game, is no secret. Might as well put up a billboard.

    I cannot agree with you more. If a caster beats Big Baddies saves he should be rewarded by having his spells take effect. If it is game breaking then makes its duration shorter on purple named than it is on others.

    If it is game breaking either make them outright immune, or give them better saves to make it less likely to save. They are bosses after all, and therefore special like players are so can have immunities and outrageous saves.

    But the spell should work the same regardless.

    It all started with the 132 000ish polar ray:

    Remove the unstable crystal:
    131 272/10 = 13 200

    Remove the bugged curses:
    13 172/5.75 = 2 290

    Add Normal curse:
    2 290 x 115% = 2 633 polar ray critical hit CL 31

    Not this. This happend for failed reflex save. Solution isn't buffing reflex save if everything else except polar has reflex save check. That would give water once again upper hand.

    As an air savant using chain lightning a lot.. I don't like that way of thinking just to fix one sla ability.

    first off to complain about someone reporting here is valid. However, that being said this is way overpowered.

    I was in a shroud last night and it lastef for almost 30secs. It not a 5 sec thing. Harry stood completely frozen and did nothing at all.

    So you knew there was going to be people complaining it op so it not necessarily bad that he did but in truth he just got the nerf ball rolling. I loved it. Was nice to see harry stand still. Of course for it to work the dc had to be high or you end with a 5 second one like otehre say.

    Description reads:
    Requires All of: Water Savant III
    Available to Sorcerer class level 18
    You deal 500 cold damage to your opponent, with a Fortitude save (DC: 10 + Constution Modifier + Sorcerer Level) for half damage, and an additional Reflex save or be encased in ice. Ice creatures are immune to this effect, and the target gets occasional saves


    Since it based off con mod then all the wf sorcs will be awesome at using this as they can get a con that matches many fighters.

    Didn't Waves JUST get nerfed because it did something similar to this?

    I would take advantage of it now, because I doubt it will last very long.

    Yeah this is gonna be fixed soon I'd imagine.

    While abilities that trivialize content are lame, so are blanket immunities. I hope they find a creative solution so that the ability is still useful on bosses, but not quite as good as it is currently.

    As much as I like the fact that we can do this, I do believe it is not WAI and will be fixed. If however, it is WAI, I'd like to hear it from a dev to put the speculation and drama to an end before it blows up into something lock-worthy.

    Anyone else remember the old harry destruction bug that caused module 6 to be patched within days of its release? No one talked about that one on the forums, but it got fixed anyway.

    Ice prison proccing on a purple name doesn't seem like a bug at all to me. It is a feature of the ability and, as such, should work on purple names.
