I've been looking at FvS AA builds lately as well. There's this one:

It's focused on Strength and damage at the expense of spell DC.
I must confess, I'm no expert, but I've been trying to maintain high Wisdom as well - it means a much lower Strength (and thus bow dps), but leaves the offensive casting option open (starting array something like 14/15/14/8/16/10 - planning on a +2 Dex tome to pick up Manyshot).
Elf gives ranged attack and damage enhancements, but half-elf gives Ranger dilettante (poor man's Bow Strength). I think I'm going to go with half-elf on the grounds that (as I'm going the Wisdom route anyway) I'm not going to hit the limits of the dilettante feat (+8 to damage, or 26 Strength).
With the FvS17/Mnk2/Wiz1, you miss out on 9th level spells, but gain Evasion, two bonus feats, and Water Stance (+Wisdom and saves) from the Monk and the prereq for Arcane Archer (and a bonus feat) from the Wizard. You can take Zen Archery as a Monk bonus feat - which means if you focus on Wisdom you get attack bonus and spell DC (and AC) all from the one stat.
I had a +2 Wisdom tome drop as a quest reward today - I think someone wants me to make a divine caster.
