    Default g axe vs d axe &shiled

I have dwarf 18 f / 2 rog that i am planning on going kensei 3. With the new changes to shield mastery I was changing from great axe to dwarven axe and a shield. Is this a good idea?
I am planning on TRing not long after reaching 20th and I solo a lot if that matters.

Also, I need to have both greater weapon focus and superior weapon focus to get Kensei 3?

    Thank you

Even with the change, your best bet is still going with a Great Axe on a kensei III

I am reasonably certain you will do more DPS sticking with GA than switching to DA+S&B+Imp Shield Bash (presuming you take that feat). The changes to the shield feats & Intim seem to be geared towards making S&B tanking more viable. If that is not your goal, I would stick with THF.

    Correct.

Your Strength bonus is multiplied by 1.5 on a two handed weapon and your Power Attack is doubled on a two handed weapon.

Just with those two differences alone, the Greataxe will do substantially more damage than a Dwarven Axe + Shield.

Now, you will get other benefits from the Shield, but I think that those benefits will still be outweighed by the extra damage that you'll do with your Greataxe.

Dead enemies won't try to hurt you, so more damage per second dealt tends to mean less total damage received.

Thank you, I will stick with the G axe. Maybe when they give S&B more love i will give it a try.
