Default GS and other gear locations for a Monk

So I'm just about to make a GS air guard HP item for my monk and I'm trying to think of where it should go. Usually my first 2 gear locations are cloak and goggles but in this case goggles is the beat location to have exc wisdom +2 and cloak can have epic mabar or exc str +2.

Where is the best locations for a GS HP item?
I'd love to see some examples of optimal and semi-optimal gear layouts.

    Cheers,
    Wowo

Most monks i see put it on the helm, some like me perfer the belt. but its all depending on your gear layout, like for me. belt is the only avalible option. due to wanting the full chrono set, tharnes/exp 2 wis googles and of course, ToD neck

My first is gonna be a cloak, but optimally i would go with a belt:

    Helm: epic helm of frost
Trinket: epic gem of many facets
    Necklace: oremi's
    Bracers: epic scorched bracers
Gloves: epic charged gauntlets(slotted +6 dex)
    Boots: epic boots of corrosion
Rings: oremis and encrusted with shocking and holy burts
Belt: gs +45+6 exceptional con skills/ stoneskin/ heavy fort +5 prot
    Cloak: epic envenomed cloak(toughness slotted)
Armor: dt vestments with greater fl/ true seeing/ +4 insight ac(if u dont care about ac u could replace with gaurd)
    Goggles: epic ravens sight
(then just pick what else u wanna put in the epic slots that are left over)
Thats it i dont think i missed anything
This would obviously take a lomg time to get but thats why its optimal.
Edit: I would also make sure what ever u slot to the boots something u can deal with out, so u can swap in madstone or boots of anchoring, thats why dex and toughness are slotted to things that wont move around much. Mayb throw in an exceptional charisma for umd to make the +7 from the helm even and blindness immunity?

This is nice. Does anyone have an optimal gear setup that doesn't involve abishai set? Other toons have dibs on that stuff.

    Helm:
    Trinket: Litany of the Dead
    Necklace: Oremi's
    Bracers: Epic Jidz Tet'Ka
    Gloves: Epic Pirates Gloves
Boots: Epic Golden Greaves/Madstone/Anchoring boots etc.
Rings: Oremi's Ring and Encrusted Ring with shocking and holy burst
    Belt: Knost's Belt
Cloak: Epic Cloak of the Roc/Epic Cloak of Night
Armor: Garments of Equilibrium (best DPS robes besides red dragonscale robe)/Icy's/DT (?/?/?)
    Goggles: Epic Ravens Sight

    Any adjustments?

Mine is a light monk and looks like this...

Head: Pirate Hat - +6 Seeker, +15 Concentration
Neck: Shintao or Oremi (stance dependent)
Trinket: Epic Gem of Many Facets (slot GFL)
Cloak: Mabar Cloak - Deathblock, Blur, Invis Guard, etc (specialty GS swaps here)
Belt: Min II - +45 HP, +6 CON skills
Ring (swap): Kyosho or Oremi - +6 WIS (stance dependent) (shocking Burst)
Gloves: Epic Claw for tanking/soloing, otherwise Epic Brawling Gloves
    Boots: Madstone
Ring (perm): Ravager - +6 STR, +1 ex STR, (holy burst)
Bracers: Epic Jidz-Tet'ka, Slotted with +6 CHA and +4 Resistance
Armor: DT – 10% Amp, 20% Amp, Freezing Ice Guard
Goggles: Epic Raven’s Sight - +2 ex WIS, True Seeing, +4 to-hit, +3 Will Save

Gem and claw gloves are in progress, so for the moment a +6 con GFL amrath belt, bloodstone, and min II hat are filling in while grinding away.

I originally wanted to work in the encrusted ring and matching belt for the extra damage. Due to poor luck in ToD (well, not that bad I have all the other rings ) and slot issues I decided this setup would be the best and losing the encrusted set damage would be outweighed by the overall gains of this configuration.

I'm planning on something like this:

    Helm: GS
    Trinket: Bloodstone
    Necklace: Oremi's
    Bracers: Epic Claw
    Gloves: Epic Claw
    Boots: Madstone
Rings: Oremi's Ring and Encrusted Ring with shocking and holy burst
    Belt: Knost's Belt
Cloak: Epic Cloak of the Roct
Armor: Garments of Equilibrium (best DPS robes besides red dragonscale robe)/Icy's/DT (?/?/?)
    Goggles: Tharne's (situaional Raven's)

I've also read that ravager set and red dragonscale have been fixed recently to work together and with unarmed, can anyone confirm/deny this?

Been in TR limbo for a while, but my last lvl 20 setup for little punchie was:

Helm: Minos / Seeker +6 Pirate Hat
    Trinket: Litany of the Dead
    Necklace: Shintao
    Bracers: Epic Claw
Gloves: Epic Claw / Epic Spectrals
    Boots: GS HP
    Ring1: Frendied ToD
    Ring2 Shintao ToD
    Belt: Frenzied ToD
Cloak: Epic Cloak of the Roc (GS HP to swap in when ToD boots required)
Armor: Epic Red Dragonscale / Equilibrium
    Goggles: Tharnes / Epic Ravens

Also have a UMD swap-in with a +6 cha skills GS item and Epic Big Top that lets me use raise (nearly no fail) and heal (slightly more fail) scrolls when necessary

This is nice but Litany is better than bloodstone. Hence:

    Helm: Pirate Hat (Seeker +6)
    Trinket: Litany of the Dead
    Necklace: Oremi's
    Bracers: Epic Jidz-Tet'ka
Gloves: Epic Brawling Gloves (slotted with GFL)
    Boots: Madstone
Rings: Oremi's Ring and Encrusted Ring with shocking and holy burst
    Belt: Knost's Belt
Cloak: Epic Cloak of the Roc/Epic Cloak of Night
Armor: Garments of Equilibrium (best DPS robes besides red dragonscale robe)/Icy's/DT (?/?/?)
    Goggles: Epic Raven's Sight

Claw set gives +4 damage but Epic Brawling Gloves give +2.5 peircing damage and +1 strength, its so little difference that the epic claw set are better off elsewhere.

I don't want to put GS on cloak or goggles as they are the spots for the most important exceptional skills. Seeker +6 on the helmet seems valuable but perhaps post update 9 it won't add all that much damage in reality (~1.2 unless in earth stance; 1.8).

Well, after all that I still don't know where to put the GS HP item but I do know that there are some interesting gear setups for monks.

Perhaps epic bracers of the claw + epic gem of many facets is a good idea. Would give +4 att/dam with epic ravens sight there as well along with +2 exceptional con etc?

First chance I get I'll slot GFL into my Epic Brawler's Gloves as they are BTA so all melee characters can use them (GFL, +7 strength, +4 sneak is nice even if unarmed).

True, though Epic Claw is also better than Epic Brawling.

    What is the Jidz'Tet-Ka for?

I think you might be better off with Litany switched for Epic Gem of Many Facets, Jidz switched for Epic Bracers of the Hunter, and Gloves switched with Epic Gloves of the Claw.

    Indeed.

None of the above setups are bad.

Each person has adapted their gear to account for what they have and more importantly, the situations their little kung-fu warrior finds themselves handling. (tanking, regular DPS, soloing, etc)

I made a mistake when posting this.
If u go with a gs belt you lose the set bonus from knosts belt and encrusted ring, sooo.... I would keep knosts belt replace the epic helm of frost with ur gs item, and then i would replace the envenomed cloak with the epic cape of the roc. U will lose one str and 3 natural ac, but the fb set will make up the damge. You will just have to swap the greater false life rune on ur dt armor for a +5 resist, and slot toughness on another piece of epic gear.

Mine has epic brawling and/or tharnes as options.

When tanking you don't get sneak attack so switch back to claw gloves.
