Magic items in 3e resize to the owner's size, having to roll for weapon size is from 2e.
But even then your halfling's greataxe would still do battleaxe damage :/
One day I was on a rather unusal fun build of mine, a drow 1/2/5 ftr/rge/wiz and joined a party doing red fens stuff. While waiting for the group to fill up we where running around doing rares, and slayers etc. On the party was a WF pure wiz who had almost immediatly begun to question me about my choices and build, talking no end of smack about how his ability to self heal and natural immunities made him far harder to kill then me.
He is a evoker archmage, the same plan I intend for my guy, so take it in stride, having an idea of the base power of the build, and knowing being a toaster is just for the faint of heart.
Then suddenly the toasters health starts to fall, and fast. He is screaming for heals, for help. No one else pays him anymind, its just an explorer zone after all, a death means little when we are waiting for the party to fill anyways.
I decide to go see what is killing him so badly, find his stone sitting with a single hardly injured fen cat near by. I ask is he the only thing left? the toaster says I should run away, that cat killed him with a single Knock Down and mauled him. I laugh and charge the cat. My single sword in hand. a DP click, a haste, a rage, blur, and my blade cleaves the cat in twain in a single oh so shiny critical blow( well vorpal actually, glory be to the charged guantlets)
The toaster is so shamed he immediatly leaves the party saying he has rl things to take care of and cant wait around anymore. The rest of us just chuckle glad to be free of the waling abomination that is a talking toaster.
Halflings arent any squshier than H-Orcs. They both start with 8 con and can boost it to 18 at creation. Halflings only problem as DPS characters is their penalty to strength which cane be overcome. So basically, a H-Orc isnt any less squishy than a Halfling.
That half-orc musta been doing something wrong. My Half-orc barb at lvl 14 gets a nice 48 str, and a +58 mod to damage. He shoulda just picked up an arcane and a hire and soloed.![]()
