Default "This item cannot be purchased"

If I cannot purchase an item with my current character, I want to know something a bit more specific than "This item cannot be purchased". Tell us what the requirements are. Maybe I'll want to log in a different character who can get it. Maybe I want to plan on getting it as soon as I gain another level. But I don't know that just from such a generic statement.

I do like the fact that we are at least allowed to see items we cannot currently buy with our current character. (That's more than we get in LOTRO.) But for that to be really useful, we would need to know under what conditions the items would become available.

If you have a slot, make a trash character then buy all that you want and move them to shared bank.

Is it bound to account, or bound to character?

Creating other characters wouldn't help. If my current character can't learn what the purchasing rules are, another character couldn't either. I'm not complaining about not being able to buy something. I'm complaining about not being able to see *WHY* I can't buy stuff. Or even why I can buy stuff, for that matter. (If I buy something for my current character, I may want to know whether my other characters can get it as well.)

The latest example is the +1 Tome of Supreme Ability. My character is level 3 and has never used any tome before, but for some mysterious reason isn't allowed to buy any. But that's just one example and NOT the extent of my issue here. I've been seeing this on dozens if not hundreds of different items over the past month or two that I've been playing.

If a rule is in place that we have to meet certain requirements in order to purchase or use an item, then the description should list what all those requirements are. They've already gone to the trouble of programming the requirements into the system. If they're going to do that much, then listing what those requirements are should be obvious. (I would have considered it suitable for a bug report if it weren't so widespread as to appear they somehow never put it in in the first place. Any listing without something so obviously necessary seems broken.)

That is odd. Dont think ive seen this roblem before. Do you have sufficient TP for the item? Did you drop a ticket on it? When i get on ill try and see if this is really refusing to accept....if i cant buy it usually doesnt show the itrm at all....

    odd.....

    It's because you've already used a tome.

That prevents you from being able to buy the supreme.

It's a terrible mechanic designed to make you spend more TP if you want to buy tomes from the store.

Only if you haven't used any tomes can you buy and use a supreme.

If people want to complain about the tomes, can you please create a thread on that topic and stop derailing this thread. This thread HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TOMES. It's not about being able to use items, nor even about whether items we can't use should be purchasable. (I may wish they were, but that's a different topic.) The topic of this thread has to do with the way item descriptions in the store are set up. It's true of ALL items. Can we please keep the thread on topic.

Ok, to reiterate, the request is that all item descriptions should include what the specific requirements are for being able to purchase that item, rather than just the presence or absence of the generic phrase "This item cannot be purchased".

What are you trying to buy? Other than a +1 Tome of Supreme Ability.

    They are bound to account.
If they are BTA then i see no reason why any character should not be able to buy one.
I logged on to a lowbe to take advantage of the deal on supreme tomes after i had trhe same problem.

Not the evil intent of resurrecting an old thread, but here it is almost 2016 and items still cannot be purchased, despite not owning them nor having purchased them in the past. (Trying to buy a class of all things...)
