Default Death and Resurrection in DDO

Considering the proliferation of resurrection magic available in the Eberron
world…why should we worry about NPC’s being killed during a quest?

Seriously, just let Coyle die and we’ll res him later!

Imagine what trouble might be caused by raising leaders of the houses
    who were killed long ago?

Who gets to sleep in the master bedroom? Who carries the ancestral sword?

Who is in charge of the house? Civil war possibilities?

What’s to stop rich merchants from sending “kill-o-grams” as pranks
and/or political messages, knowing full well that the recipient will
    be raised shortly thereafter?

If we could rez him to finish the stupid quest, I'd gladly kill Coyle myself.

Maybe they can only be raised if they're just mostly dead.

If you could kill coyle and not fail the quest there would be a line of vets waiting to beat him like a redheaded stepchild.

I still remember not being able to heal the moron.

Honestly, the whole resurrection thing is more because of that a high level cleric caan raise the dead, but he must be willing.

how do you know Coyle doesn't think "Forget this, I'm killing myself on the next monster I see." because he's overworked and underpaid?

It's a morale thing, House D was wrongly trusting in Coyle so seeing him die would put a halt on the whole delving in Threnal.
Naturally once the truth came to life everyone can happily let him stay dead.
Maybe bulletin him to the silver flame binders. Maybe raise him to then hang him for treason.

It's all politics, the house leaders live to old age and clearly being an assassin isn't a good form of making a living.
Thus most organized crime in stormreach settle with smuggling and piracy rather than trying to take over the city.
Besides the houses have a hierarchy line from above, which only the dragonmarked heirs have full control.
