As for Rift played the Beta's, it's pretty and it's a neat concept but it seems to be totally focused at solo players and I prefer the social aspects of MMO's so I was pretty much all set with Rift.

Rift has gone through 7 stages of free beta and the first 30 days of the game is free so there was plenty of time for someone to trial. It's actually a pretty solid game that has the best of most MMOs.

I really dont see what it offers over anything else out and its not 30 days of free play you pay for that with the box just like all other p2p mmos
