I'll also buy scales from anybody who's overflowing, but rather interested in stones right now

The only reason they would have increased in price is due to the sudden rise in the average amount of plat to each character, due to the plat farming done during the event. I mean, +1 tomes are on the AH for 1.5 million plat

I'd say, farm the stones, and once the economy settles down in a few months, buy them then. Unless, of course, you got plat to spare!
