    Default Returning player looking for some advice

    Hi there all,

    So as you can tell by join date I started with Beta but have been off and on since then. I've never capped a character yet and my closest one is my WF wizard/rogue who is currently lvl 18. I'm looking at trying to now cap him and get him pretty well geared up but here's where the problem starts.

    I am just coming back from a year off hiatus and I got Hexidecimal up to 17 at that time. I've since just dinked around some to get him to 18. He is currently an Archmage with Evocate spec so he has MM, CM, Arcane bolt and Arcane Blast. My issue is that I'm nervous about joining groups or trying to join raids as I'm not really sure what is expected of a Wizard at this level and beyond.

    I understand from reading forums that Mass Hold Monster is big in epics but I won't have that for another level. Other than epics what is expected from a wizard during quests and raids. Also while I'm asking is there a recommendation for armor as currently I'm just using some +1 lesser fire guard of invulnerability. I'm willing to be there's something better out there. I do need to study up about how to make a DT docent but is there something I should pick up while still working on that or certain mods that would be good to wear?

    Thank you in advance for any insight that you're able to share with me so I can continue bettering this character I love and get over my fear of groups and raids.

    I don't think all that much is really expected having haste/blur/gh/displacement/resists and keeping them up on the melees can often let you pike many quests. On the other hand you can often just utterly devastate lots of mobs with wail/fod and well placed firewalls. Depending on what you want to run you might be expected to be able to do other things but most of the time these are the basics. For amrath heightened web is often asked for (as it does work quite well). Flesh to stone is another very useful spell in many places where instakills don't work (prey on the hunter,tor,some amrath quests).

    As for gear the obvious choice for a pre-dt docent would be the elfcrafted one for arcane lore. Other non epic choices include blue dragonscale, quorforged and possibly a couple of the melee ones if that's your thing. If I were you I wouldn't be afraid to raid all that much. If you don't know the quests very well try to make sure you join a group for a normal run first and let the leader know you're new. Wizards quite often have fairly easy tasks assigned often being buffing or some kind of cc. The large exception being ToD where you're usually expected to kite in part two.
