    Exclamation This account was hacked.

It seems that sometime between October of 2010 and now the game account that is tied to this forum account has been hacked or stolen. The individual who did it must have changed the email and password on the game account but didn't bother changing the password on the linked MyDDO account which I am posting from (The email in the User CP for this Forum Account is still correct should a mod/admin wish to contact me).

I've sent a ticket to customer service with the details outlined in the stickied post (Last 4 of CC linked to account, Cardholder name/address, etc) and will call them Monday afternoon when they open if I don't have a reply by then.

Is there anything further I can do immediately to "lock" the account so that purchases can't be made via the Credit Card On File and mitigate any further potential damage to the account?

    Thanks

Log into myaccount.turbine.com and change your password to something secure.

    they changed it on him.

I would say this is a prime example of good credit card security needed. Perhaps they were on to it already (since your card has not been run up in all that time).

Call monday is the best you will probably get. Let us know what happened so we all know what to do in the future.

FYI, the account rep I talked to said you could call in your membership via phone (pay by credit card over phone) and keep the Credit card off the account that way. Use paypal for store purchases.

This way if hacked again, no threat of lost monies...just lost ingame stuff (some youmight have paid for)_

I just wanted to chime in and thank Turbine for the prompt resolution to this, even over a holiday weekend. My account information was reset this evening and my DDO account looks untouched fortunately, including the large amount of points I had on it.

My LOTRO account is another story, but I'm sure it'll get sorted out eventually. (Though all they did it seems was move a character, strip all of the gold and dropable items on that character and then 'abandon' the account, so it could have been MUCH worse. All the LOTRO turbine points that I got for being a lifetime subscriber were still there. And they didn't even log into my DDO account most likely as I had over 700,000 plat on my main character and it wasn't touched)

As to following up on the thread so others will know what to do; all I did was follow the instruction in the Hacked Account sticky on this forum verbatim and they were able to reset the account access back to me without any further input from me.

    Cheers
