Going to be offline for a few days while I wait for the new components to get in. Not sure if it was the proc or the mobo, but either way it's a good excuse to upgrade.

So I guess with all the computers going poof, you're gonna start a new guild called "Pooftahs"?

LOL @ Hordo - Only if you're the queen of the guild.
For the others - not going with anything too crazy. I'm upgrading from a Core 2 duo, so I have to replace mobo/proc/memory.
I5-760 (Amazing OC chip - Lynnfield quad core)
8GB Gskill DDR3
Asus P7P55D-E
New power supply (Antec 650W) and cooling for the proc.
This game is really the only one I ever run, so I can get away with saving a few bucks

If you don't mind me asking, what vid card are you running? I'm thinking of upgrading mine (currently a 9100 nVidia) soon, since that's a weak point in my system (pre-built, I found an open box deal that was actually cheaper than building it, 8GB of DDR3, 1TB HDD, quad core AMD 3.2ghz). Then again, I may wait and buy a Commodore 64x instead. Because I can.

Mts,
you'll be making massive mistake if you go with a P55/i5 760 instead of the new sandybridge i5 2500, the are the SAME PRICE. if you overclock get the 2500K (20 bucks more) it will overclock past 4ghz with air cooling. even without overclocking sandybridge brings at least a 30% performance improvement over the previous gen core i5 cpu. T
Are the 9xxx series nVidias having issues still? I seem to remember reading something about them overheating or something. I had no troubles out of a 7800 and a 8600 GT in the past, in fact the 8600GT is still being used by a friend, and my parents make use of the 7800GT. Another friend stopped using nVidia cards entirely and switched to ATi, though I won't swear to any knowledge of why, due to one of the 9xxx cards he bought. I'm not even sure which one.
My current one runs DDO full out as well, though I turn off a few things that give me a headache. It does, however, give me the occasional BSOD, which is the main reason why I want to upgrade. DDO is the most intensive game I run right now, and quite frankly, that probably won't change any time soon unless a really good shooter comes out of left field. A PC shooter, not a hacked up console port. Nearly all of the RPGs I buy are indie titles or GoG stuff, and this system is way overkill.

Never even heard of it, actually. Though to be honest, I've fallen off the PC gaming wagon for awhile, since mainstream publishers choose to mistreat their customers and/or not release anything but crappy console ports. The only fps games I play now are Doom/Doom2 sp wads and Call of Duty: United Offensive online. Needless to say, after over 5 years, CoD:UO is getting tired, and after nearly 20, Doom is worse.
I'd look into it, but unfortunately, looks like it's infected with the Securom virus. I'm boycotting every publisher and developer that installs viruses on people's computers like that. This is what makes it hard to find games at times, though good can be debatable (after reading reviews, 99% of the ones I won't buy weren't worth buying in the first place).
