A lot of great titles in here.

Anyone remember this one? I saw it as a kid living in Japan

    The Seven Swords of Waylan.

I can;t find any trace of it on IMDB, but it was very reminiscent of the Swords books by Saberhagen...

Tongue teasers, midgets, knights, jousting, knaves, minstrels/bards, swashbuckling, and Angela Lansbury was hot.
I kept waiting for Angela Lansbury to corner Ravenhurst and grill him on his plot, and all the while the sheriff is in the next room listening to the whole thing.

That's the wrong one of the two that is actually tolerable.

Of course, the second D&D Movie is only tolerable because of Ellie Chidzey who played Lux and the white dragon eating the cleric.

Another movie I don't see here: Masters of the Universe with Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella.

I loved that movie when I was 9.

    Yep,

Seven Swords of Wayland was an episode of Robin of Sherwood, an ITV production filmed in Wales in the 80's. the series was "goundbreaking" in that it tried to portray magic, or at least the link between the people of the time and the land in a serious believable way (ok season 3 went OTT).

Wayland the smith is a character from Germanic mythology and so a minor figure in English, German, Norse mythology, and a hero to modern Swordsmiths and Cutlers.

Steel working in the 6th to 10th century Northern Europe, especially that surrounding pattern welded blades lends creedance to the concept of "legendary" swordmakers and the swords that they produced. With the right raw materials, and years of experience and secret techniques, it is entirely likely that certain swordmakers produced weapons that appeared to be "magic", as their superior strength, sharpness and durability far outweighed the common mass produced swords and armour.

Oppps sorry, favourite subject sorry for derail.

    Robin of Sherwood rocks!!!!

    Regards
    Wolf

Agreed! Some people can't get past seeing Arnold and hearing all his comedy one liners from later films. Anyway it has one of the greatest movie villain performances of all time: James Earl Jones as Thulsa Doom.

That is sad. I really need to find a copy of that movie to show the wife. I think she'd like the horses.

Also agreed, I think that Conan is one of the best depictions of D&D out there, and one of the best soundtracks ever, I find nothing cheesy about Conan......and don't even get me started on William Smith, only in it for a few minutes but what a few minutes, I love that man, best bad guy/stunt man in Hollywood.
