    Default Gear for THF KotC

My Paladin alt is approaching 20 and I am wondering which choices I should make when crafting DT and GS items.

Atm, the character is a 28pt THF pure KotC (stat and feat layout similar to the one in Junts' Thread), but in the long term, I plan to GR him to a DoS intimitank.

    0. Is a DT armor a good choice? Will there be Epic Armors which are better choices?
    1. Which DT armor type should I choose? Plate Armor or Robes?
    2. Which attributes are needed on the DT? Should I mix and match from Deathblock/+5 Res//Missing Stat bonus/Healing Amp/Threat//Threat/a nice guard?
    3. Unfortunately, this character has no mabar cloak. What is a good place to get Deathblock from? Silver Flame Necklace?
    4. A Concordant Opposition item with 45 HP looks sweet for a Pally. For instance this one. What is a good slot for it? I'm a bit hesitant to put it on a Necklace since this is conflicting with the Cartouche and other utility stuff like Optic Nerves et al.
    5. Should I craft a +6 Cha skills item? If yes, on which slot?
    6. Are there other important gear choices which I did miss? It is clear to me that I want +6 to Str, Con, Wis and Cha, Heavy Fort, Deathblock and Immunities as well as GFL and the Toughness item attribute on my gear.
    7. How many of these items will also be usable when I GR this character into a tank evenually?

I'm talking about the tanking aspect.

Epic armors allow you to have more AC than DT assuming you can fill out the dex bonus. I like the vambraces in particular because of the radiance guard, but the red scale armor is obviously the best.

I believe most pure tanks would choose to use heavy armor because it's hard to make a tank that uses robes without wisdom AC or something else.

DT is good for when you're working up to epic. Ideally I would have +20 healing amp, +5 resistance, and +3 dodge AC (I have no chattering ring). Yours will vary and probably take a while to get EXACTLY what you want.

Personally I would combine my SP/Cha skills item and my concordant opposition (only +5 cha skills for me but it works out in other ways).

Nothin to say about deathblock... I just swap mine in for beholders and cast deathward otherwise.

You do also want +6 dex on your items for the additional AC.

Now, this is all for a DoS tank and assuming you want to NOT get hit (IE not a guard build or something), and this is all subjective.

Since the questions I asked in the OP seemed to be too difficult/easy to answer and/or not all of your THF Pallys might run around naked, let my broaden the intention of this thread.

What are your endgame gear setups (current and planned) on your THF paladins and your pure pally tanks?

I'm currently a 20 THF Elf Paladin and I'm working towards endgame gear.. I'm not entirely sure what to go for but I have sort of made a plan.

I've crafted a GS necklace with +45HP, I found that the necklace spot was the one I could most do without and I'm not disappointed with my choice.

Obviously, I'm going for the Lorinthor's set and will eventually craft a GS falchion (although I'd also love an Epic Sword of Shadows ), but I must admit that Armor is one area I need to work on. At the moment my DT has Greater False Life, +1 exceptional con and air guard... I was going for more HP so that I wouldn't be so squishy and as a result I'm at 502 unbuffed.

Armor you can consider Marilith chain -> It gives seeker bonus at armor slot, of course you will have to live with neg. levels due to taint of evil. Epicable (seeker 10, 5 DR/ lawfull good, blue slot).
Honestly I like Chrono stuff (Abishai set):
    - Epic Cloak is really nice +7 Con, +5 Resist, and green slot.

    0. DT armor is a very good choice. I don't know about the Epic Armor exactly, but there are some which will give higher AC, if that's what you're going for.

    1. On your build I would make one for your AC, which would likely be best as Plate Armor. You might also consider making a few as Robes or Vestments (I prefer the look of Vestments personally)
for utility when AC does you little good. Robes and Vestments have the advantage of near-instant switch-outs.

    2. I put +5 Resist on my DT and then built up from there. Since I use Vestments I put GUards, specifically I have (1) Radiance Guard, +5 Protection, +5 Resist
    (2) Radiance GUard, True Seeing, +5 Resist (3) Earthgrab Guard, Corrosive Guard, +5 Resist (4) +100 Spell points, Wave Guard or whatever it's called, +5 Resist.

    3. Silver Flame Necklace is great against Beholders and against casters who like to delevel you. I use it all the time. Deathward works great when you're not worried about being dispelled. Until I got something better I used to swap to a Deathblock Robe when I encountered Beholders. AC is pointless against Beholders and a Robe allowed instant swapping.
Against most everything else I have a couple of pairs of Deathward google clickies from TR.

    4. The Concordant Opp item is amazing. One of the most useful things for a Paladin. What slot will depend on you. For me it went in the Goggle slot. I crafted it long ago. Now I kind of regret it in case I pull the Tharnes. However, I am usually the aggro-magnet so I think I can live without Tharnes.
If the Necklace area is just for swapping to Cartouche and stuff that might work best for you. You'll lose 45 HP each time, but that's just a couple of Cure Serious pots and back to normal.

    5. Yes. +6 Cha skills is great. That equals +30% to UMD that stacks with the Cartouche. And adds to Intimidate. I slotted mine in Gloves. Again, it will depend on what other gear you have, for where you should slot it.

    6. Might want a +6 Dex Item in there somewhere. For me it's the Tumbleweed ring; +6 Dex and +2 to hit.

    7. Can't answer that. But certainly most of them will be usable.
