I believe it has been established that (A) despite what the char builder says, PL sorc only provides SPs if you can already cast spells and (B) no SP bar means no imbues, rendering AA useless (if you can take it at all).

Yeah I think most doing this opt for a level of bard and one of ranger I believe.

You need one arcane caster level (bard, sorc, or wizard), and swapping out fighter 19 for another class is recommended.

All depends on what you want for your one level splashes.

You don't need 1 arcane caster level. You can even take a cleric level and waste a feat on mental toughness. You need a spell casting class to get the blue bar. Then you need to take an arcane SP total boosting enhancement or train a feat like Arcane Prodigy or Mental Toughness while maintaining any spell casting class.

Albeit, I don't recommend this path. I'm just stating arcane is not the only path.

Most people choose wizard, then they can retain their Action Points and get a free metamagic feat slot to train Mental Toughness.

Eh, it's just one action point that's wasted...

Is there a way to "cheat" with a dilletante?

    Edit:
Another reason people choose a level of bard or rogue for AA is the UMD unlock.
