Default Best Christmas Present of 2010

I opened my Christmas present from my wife today, and this is what I saw.

Pretty awesome if you ask me. As someone who wasn't old enough to play when it first came out, and the only nerd in his school of 80 people (k-8) and home-schooled most of high school, I never got a chance to play the real game.

The box is really cool. Almost like a throwback to its first years.

And you can see my daughter's foot in the top right. She was leaning over it going, 'Nice daddy nice.'

Is that that 4E thing esentials guess it would have to be it says WOTC on the cover sigh I saw that in the store and got excited until I saw what it was not for me but I do hear some people like it now if it had been the original red box I would have gotten excited myself. nice to have a wife that gets things she thinks you might enjoy(mine does that sometimes to) I never played the orignal red box since back then we called it dnd for babies but I would love to have one now.

We just picked up the new Gamma World box - and I like it a lot. It uses the 4E rules, with some cool twists to it. For some reason, taking the 4E rules out of D&D makes them much more palatable - and the game's random elements make for a really unique and fun setting.

Right now, we have a Giant Hawkperson (12 feet tall with a 25 foot wingspan), a ground-controlling sentient Plant, a living conduit for both Radiation and Electricity, and an Empathic tactical genius running around in an ancient minivan... and it totally rocks.

I have to recommend the newest version of Gamma World very highly.

I have heard some other people say good things about it but I will stick to Metamorphsis Alpha for my mutants
