So - I'm new to khyber. Capped a variety of toons over yonder and decided to make a build here alongside a friend. In any case, I ran into something unusual while leading Gwylans' on elite, of all things. At the time being I was restricted to typing as voice would've woken people up - nevertheless, it was smooth. We finished the fight in the first stronghold, and I stated that we would be leaving the same way we came as the group rested. 30 seconds later, the wizard declares through voice that we MUST take the other road for conquest and the single trap box.
I quickly object - explaining that there is no need, for the bonuses are near impossible not to acquire regardless, but the damage was dealt. 4/6 of my group broke off and charged up the caster-heavy alternate route, and generally got horribly mauled, only barely pulling through. The wizard didn't try to dispute my response that we hadn't needed to take that route, though rather peeved, looking upon the loss I remarked that this is the result when people don't listen.
The wizard almost exploded, saying that we would've managed had *I* not split the group. Perplexed, I pointed out that I was the leader, had previously stated which way we would be leaving, and had explained the reasons for not taking that route. Following this is the point of discussion - wizard declared that he hated to break it to me, but the star next to my name meant nothing once the quest started, and claimed that since people were following him, he was the leader - allbeit apparently an incompetant one.
As I'm sure you'll understand the remaining 3 followed him because he had voice while I did not, and typed chat tends to fall into a lesser priority, so I hold nothing against them. However, I've never encountered this before. As far as I've seen, joining a group is an agreement to follow the leader as long as his leadership is competant. Is the wizard's belief typical of Khyber? It was stated with such utter convinction as though he had never seen anything else. What say you? Does the creation of the group and assosiated golden star grant the rights of leadership? Or does leadership fall to whichever member the remaining partyers happen to be chasing?
