Ok. Hear me out. Also give me a moment to put my nerd cap on.

So my buddy and I had this idea for a dungeons and dragons movie. The thing is, it's based on two pretty specific character types(In fact two prestige classes)

Nightsong Infiltrator and Nightsong Enforcer. The movie in and of itself is a heist movie. NI and NE are neutralish characters, known to be able to get into and out of anywhere, and take anything.

Picture their introductory scene: Dimly lit metal room, an Iron Golem towering over a musclebound type wielding a two handed weapon(Greatsword probably) Sparks fly the floor gets smashed up, sword chips away at the golem and fends him off. Pan to the Infiltrator working a lock and trap set up on a vault door. Sweat pouring down his face but his actions as steady as can be, and then his hands turn...All the while, complete silence. A small stone set between the two men radiating a soft of white noise(magical silence ).

The two fail to steal this item, whatever it happens to be(powerful evil hoobajoob) So now they have their employers(whom they have failed) looking to "talk" to them.

Enter a paladin, searching for information on said Item, who inevitably finds way to question our neutral roguish heroes.

Other characters essential, A Monk, Barbarian, Druid, Wizard/Sorc.

A D&D movie would be cool, as long as they could keep Uwe Boll as far away from it as possible:

(If any of you haven't seen that movie, be sure to rent it for some of the best laughs ever!)

Hell, that sounds like my last PUG.

Heck, live action the old 80s cartoon. That has a better plot than the last two "dnd" movies.

Jeremy Irons was already in a D&D movie and totally blew it. Just get the original voice actor for Irenicus, David Warner. He's deliciously over-the-top without being way too ridiculous as Irons was.

Edit: How dare you say what I think first. Or maybe I should click on the 2nd page before I respond.

There is no lag. Just because you had none before and can't play now doesn't mean the server move had anything to do with it.

The two bad movies supposedly happened because the rights to film had been given and had to make something out of them before the deadline.

But hey, the rights to film must be sitting in someone's desk as we speak.
No news isn't good news in this case :-/

    The deadline will come wailing.

You don't know just how right you may well be.

I was at a booksigining with Terry Brooks (author of the Shannara series) several years back and somehow the topic of movie rights came up. He said that his books had been optioned on more than one occasion only to see the rights term expire and either been re-bid or forgotten. Mr. Brooks then told us about a movie exec who had won a bidding war to acquire the rights to a novel of a friend of Mr. Brooks and, when asked when they'd begin production for the movie, said something along the lines of 'Never. We just don't want a rival having the rights.'.
    Wonderful, eh?

I suspect that the LotR series or Narnia is going to be about the closest thing we see to a DnD movie because the literature, characters, setting, etc. is familiar to most people who are in the target demographic for these kinds of films. I'm not sure you could say the same about Ravenloft, Dragonlance or the like.

Oddly enough, I would like to see an Eberron based movie.

    Party composition -

    Dwarf Artificer

    WF Fighter

    Shifter Ranger/Weretouched Master

    Changeling Rogue

    Half-Elf Sorceror/DragonMark Heir

    Valenar Elf Cleric/Revenant Blade

Basic plot could be a search for a schema to one of the old Cannith forges, and possibly leading to conflict with the Lord of Blades.
There is an "Alternate" Forum, PM Strakeln for details.

I too would like to see an Eberron-based movie; I feel the setting is different enough from the standard high fantasy LotRs so that it wouldn't seem like a cheap knock-off. Besides, you can't tell you don't want to see this movie.
