For the record -- this toon is level 7, he does have 93 hp, he is a Virtuoso (hence 11 songs per rest), and seems to be cursed with ugly clothes. Before level 6 he wore a "charismatic" hat which was an endless source of mirth for my guild. I got rid of the hat... and got this armor.

Very good point, and I will do so. In fact, Disable Device, Open Lock and their flanking rings (disabling on the left, open luck on the right) will go. When I need them, I have time to open other panels.
