    Default TR'd Khopesh Kensai plan

My first run through on her was a lot of fun. Deadly little crit monster dual wielding khopesh even though she didn't have two weapon fighting. Refining her build now to include the obvious two weapon fighting feats, a few techs, and one or two goodies just for fun (like WW, yes unnessicary but why not?)

I haven't fully planned out her equipment but she's working on the obvious, GS khopesh, DT armor, various epic gear. You get the idea.

Anyway, wanted input, criticism, or just a nod at decent planning if that be what it is. Depending on what people say I might actually change the plan. For now though, based on how well the first version worked as borked as she was...

My Emili ... I just TR'd her but I've a cache of +3 and +4 tomes... her previous 32 points build was 18 14 14 12 8 8 with tomes +3's on str dex con int and wis and a +2 before they even come out with TR ... and thus took me some time to TR her to get a tome cache back.

Current build (TR'd) I went 18 15 15 10 8 8 Tomed her all +1's at level three because they cluttered the bank then tomed her start +2's at level 7 because they cluttered the bank (not to mention +2 on dex opens gtwf) and at 13 with +3 str, dex and con I have a few +4s for lvl 15 for str, int and possibly cha.

One thing of note is 17 dex is the target for gtwf I would dump stat wis and cha if I were you and move those to dex.

Hmm, I see where you're going with that and I just might do it, but for now I'm not of mind to change the plan. saving 2 abilities points during level ups would essentially equate to another +1 str but really endgame only means that +1 to attack, damage (+3 crit damage), and feat DCs. Unless you're thinking of something I am not?

    Default Dps?

I assume since you chose to make a TWF khopesh fighter you go for dps and not tanking and i therefor recommend that you take power attack instead of combat expertise.

I'd lose Power Critical and get Power Attack. I hope you misclicked

I'd also do what Emili says and dumb wis and cha to get 15 dex base so you can get GTWF with just a +2 tome. I'd rather have more DPS than a measly +1 will save and +1 intimi.

Why crit acc IV? You only need 3 for kensai, right? Last rank is useless.
Also, Fighter Flanking shouldn't really be needed.
Attack boost IV also seems a waste. Usually you only take enough for kensai - you use the boosts for Power Surge, not Attack Boost.
    Where's Haste Boost?

The +1 to will saves really doesnt get you into the range to save much endgame. Youre still going to need buffs to protect you rather than make saves. +1 str however does get you something useful at endgame.

Some things are 'flavour' not to optimize, like going Human. Don't get me wrong, my main is Human too, but you have to understand it's probably the worst possible race for a melee.

Some things however are pure madness not optimize, and you're severely gimping yourself by not doing the following (on a TWF DPS toon) -

    1. Starting with a 15 Dex for access to ITWF and GTWF (you started Dex 13 and put 2 level ups into DEX??)

    2. Starting with an 18 Str and putting every level up into STR

    3. Taking Power Attack, Quick Draw, at very least one Toughness feat, Stunning Blow, Haste Boost IV, etc. You also want Imp Crit a lot earlier than level 14 if you want to level up easily. There's also absolutely no need for the Spring Attack line either with all the Kensai + to hits.

Why is Human bad for melee? Worse than halfling, elf, drow?

well, if all you care about is dps (which most people do) human is not so great, especially from the perspective of fighters. the bonus feat is *great* for a feat-starved class, not so awesome for fighter.

but i suspect the real crux of the issue is not that human is an abominably terrible choice for a melee, it's just not as good as certain other options much of the time; warforged gets power attack bonuses, THF bonus (if you use THF), better con, and tactics enhancements (stunning, tripping, etc). dwarf gets better use of axes, better con, and tactics enhancements. half-orc gets better THF lines, and bonus to strength. half-elf adds most of what human adds (basically all the best stuff), plus dilettante feat/enhancemnts can be *really* powerful.

so humans are not necessarily all that bad (nor are halfling, and even elf in certain rare cases)... they're just not all that good either.

Let me point out a very substantial exception to this: human shintao monk.

Human healing amp + monk healing amp is amazing.

Other than that I do have to agree that other races make better Kensais from a min/max perspective. My favorite is dwarf, but that's just me.

I think the strong point of a human is multiclassing. The extra feat can make it easier to fit in a variety of build options, and that ability to add +1 to different stats via human adaptability helps as well. Lastly if you are multi-classing into stuff without class clickies the human versatility enhancement is nice as well imo.

Exactly right. IIRC though Halflings also have a sneak attack damage so they're probably a better min/max choice than Humans. Even Elves would make better Dex builds (if people still roll those these days) with their + Dex and rapier attack/damage enhancements.

So that leaves Drow that as a worse choice... possibly

Good point re. the Shintao Monk - they're not something I know much about having been away since just before the cap was raised. I have a few outdated builds I'm thinking of gradually LR'ing over a few weeks and Shintao Monk may be something I try.
