Ok. One more then Amanda, but only because you asked for it.... (you may be sorry!)

Aranticus may know what I'm talking about here...

Seared Petit Wagyu Strip Loin, tiny smoked potato, grilled onion, fresh wasabi

Seared Petit Wagyu Strip Loin, confit potato, truffle

As nice as the first plate of Wagyu looks, it is the second one I will lust after to my grave. No matter how much of this I could eat, I would always want the same thing - just one more bite. I warn you - if you are a meat and potatoes kind of person, do not eat this without considering the consequences!

Once you partake, there is no returning to beef innocence and naive. Be forewarned.

:O Is that raw?! I have never had that before...what does it taste like..? Might be a little too raw for me :|
Yes you eat it raw with some soy sauce and wasabi. How does it taste like? U tried swordfish or tuna sashimi before? It's like in between those. The really good wagyu melts in your mouth too
If you want to know why...

There are 3 main sources of wagyu, australian, american and japanese. Of these 3, the japanese wagyu, specifically the Kobe variety is the most premium of beef. The last Kobe wagyu steak set me back 150usd for a 350gm slab

I like my steak with a good dry rub and Mesquite smoked. Hickory and Applewood are good too. Grilled steak is ok, but until you've had a properly prepared steak from a smoker... <drool>

A local hamburger place here in Birmingham sells a Kobe beef hamburger. 8oz burger- $28US.

They also serve milkshakes made with liquid nitrogen. One of the offering is a Krispy Kreme milkshake. We're talking Bucket List quality here.

Best steak I think I have ever had was at a restaurant in, of all places, Iuka, Mississippi. Wish I could remember the name but this was like 15 years ago. It had a huge firepit in the middle of the restaurant where they cokked the steaks. The waiters brought around various cuts of beef on a tray and you selected your cut, the size in ounces (8 oz. minimum except on the filet) and the doneness. I think I went with a 24 oz. Ribeye and it was as near perfection as makes no difference.

Sounds like a place I used to frequent in Norfolk, years ago. The Grate Steak. You picked out your cut, raw, and you grilled it on the big fireplace in the middle. All you can eat salad bar, and all you can eat baked potato bar. They had a mirror on the wall with a sign above it, "Complaints to the chef."

    Cheers,
