    As for the OP,

and to anyone who likes steak....

my favorite steak of all time:

    Peter Lugar Steakhouse, Brooklyn NY
"The Brooklyn location is the original Peter Luger Steakhouse. Since 1887, we have been serving the discerning steak connoisseur."
The Great Neck location is less touristy. It's a bit pricey, but it's amazing. The steaks are to die for. The bacon side dish (You read that right) is amazing. Bacon so thick you have to cut it with a knife!

Failed to mention I get my beef from my uncle whom raises beef cattle that is grass fed only(tastes more like venison). No hormones/steroids. And is raised only about 20 miles from my house... ;p

    Locally sourced food ftw!

Yep, that's it. I think the one here is the second location after the one in or around Atlanta.

Will have to let the wife know that they have good fried pickles. She's constantly on the lookout for a place that makes good ones.

Here's a question for all you cheesesteak conna... conoau... lovers.

We have a local sandwich shop, the owner says he's from Philly. Makes great cheesesteaks, but, unless you tell him not to, he ladles pizza sauce on it!

I've been to Philly once, and never heard of this practice. Is this common, or is this guy crazy. (I'm voting for crazy).

    Cheers,
    bt

Not common practice. Born, raised and still living in Philly. You can't get a good cheesesteak outside of the Philly area because all the elements have to be there.
The roll has to be soft, a little chewy and so fresh you can cut it with a spoon.
The meat has to be freshly cut and have the perfect amount of fat.
The cheese has to be real American cheese with a high fat content and freshly sliced.

Pat's, Geno's and Tony Lukes are all pretty much tourist stops, though Tony Lukes has a **** fine Roast Pork with Brocoli Rabe and Sharp Provy. The best Philly cheesesteaks are made in diners and dives scattered about the Philly area. Everyone has there favorite and nobody's is the best. But the above mentioned are among the worst. I've you like them, you'll love the others more.

Filthydelphians are very serious about our food. Anyone who wants to come to Philly, I'll take ya around to chow down. Just make sure you wear your eatin pants
