You mean for home brewing? I would skip the mashing and get one of the IPA kits. That was my first, and by far the easiest and most forgiving.

If you mean to buy, depends on the price range, but you can never go wrong with a Sam

Being in Singapore, the grocers there would probably have Kirin Ichi and Sapporo.

In Singapore you should be able to get Singha for a song. It has a great, crisp taste and goes perfectly with spicy foods.

If you are looking for imports and not too worried about costs, go with a St. Bernardus Abt 12. I've only ever had it once and I can still remember the incredible taste.

There are prolly several mico brews in your area if you go look. Stay away from straight up liquor stores and move to wine stores or sepciality stores for good mico or craft brews. If you just started drinking then try alittle bit of everything and try it in different ways. Try some when you are eating or try others at room temp and others chilled. My opinion is that a good beer will taste good chilled or room temp. That way you are not hurried to finish it off while its cold and can enjoy it.

Edit: D'oh. Did'nt look at your location. Yes stay away from americian beer. Beer shipped overseas never tastes good. First rule of port calls in the navy is stick to local brews unless they are just so bad you need a bud.

Best cheap beer I think is PBR (extensive testing)

Best beer to drink warm Guinness (my grandfather kept his on the hearth above the fire place...)

I would highly suggest picking up the Sam Adams October fest, has a good strong taste. Also if you live in New England you might be able to get the Sam Adams 12 pack that is 3x of 4 different beers, all of which are great.

    GL and enjoy responsibly!

Actually looking at your location alot of the local beers prolly use a lot of rice. I tend to stay away from beers from the East for this reason. Budwiser and several large americian brewers use the same because its cheap and plentiful. The up is that it leads to a clean and crisp beer, the down is that they tend to taste horrible when at room temp or warm. Look for an unfiltered wheat beer or darker ales. Prolly get a better experience with taste from those than the local lagers and pale ales. If you are feeling brave enough try to brew your own. It takes time, practice, and space but some of the best beers I have had have been from unmarked bottles and kegs.

    Snakebite.

Snakebite is a beer cocktail essentially made from equal parts of lager and cider.[1]

Snakebite is typically served in pint servings. UK licensing laws make half-pint servings impossible, as the two main ingredients are dispensed in strictly controlled half-pint measures (a half-pint snakebite would require quarter-pint servings of the main ingredients). Even if the cider and lager are perfectly clear before being mixed, often the resulting drink will be cloudy and sharp-tasting. Frequently, a dash of blackcurrant cordial, "black", is added as a sweetener, this is sometimes known as 'diesel'. Though it is often served mixed, some variants "float" the beer atop the cider in separate layers.

For the cider, get ahold of a decent import, like Strongbow.

These days, the US has its share of great beers, too. Just stay away from anything BMC.
