Rumor among fans that Warner Brothers has bought the rights and is developing a Harry Potter MMO.

The notion of creating a Harry Potter multi-player online role playing game is something that we've been discussing at Warner Bros. for a number of years and continue to explore.

We are currently investigating the possibility of creating our own MMORPG, but unfortunately do not have any further details to share at this time.

Turbine got the LOTRO rights, which is rather huge, will they get the harry potter build too?


My thinking is nothing like DDO, more for kids instead...too bad.

There has been speculation on a Harry Potter based MMO from turbine for years... Warner had invested in Turbine WAY before they bought the company.

Turbine has always had a LoTRO MMO License.

Harry Potters demographic IS the "Younger crowd". No reason to think the MMO would be focused anywhere else. the "Success" of Free Realms seems to ndicate that its a valid market to go after.

Old news and not much to report beyond the speculation that has been going on for years. Of course there will be a Harry Potter MMO someday, and WB Games will be in charge of it. Makes sense that they would tap Turbine to make it. In fact, it's probably a big reason why they acquired Turbine to begin with. To make MMOs that fit with WB properties and IP.

I agree a HP MMO would likely be more Free Realms than DDO. Makes sense to keep it focused on casual gaming. Probably aim for the teen-upper teen market, with spillover to adults.
