Default Jacoby Drexelhand has Fortification in Collaborator?

I was running through The Collaborator for testing purposes (I had previously noted Jacoby wasn't taking sneak attack damage), and was surprised to discover this:

It seems our good friend Drexelhand has fortification. I guess that explains my difficulty with landing sneak attack damage.

Note: Attacks were made with a Heavy Crossbow, hence the crit on a 19.

Ranged sneak attacks are kinda buggy. You have to be within a certain range of him to land a sneak attack, even if you don't have aggro. If you feel that you don't have aggro and are within that limit of ranged sneak attack, maybe bug report it?

Maybe eyes are playing a trick on me, but from combat log it would seem he simply resisted your crit: confirmation roll was a 13, maybe your crit failed to confirm.

Try fighting him with keen weaponry - scimitar or falchion crit on a 15 - that would give you a broader range to test his fortification on.

Well he IS a boss... its very possible that he has fortification. Maybe a robe of Lesser Fort?

Anyway his life is so low it doesnt really matter anyway... just keep swinging till he drops

To the above poster, if you look at his combat log, he rolled (or tried too) another crit... but the confirmation roll failed and it states "Failure"

His other crit sucessfully confirmed, but was then Resisted by a fortification =)

    No.

On one crit confirmation he rolled a 3. Failure

He also rolled a 13 and a 14. Critical hit resisted.

It cannot be, Jacoby Drexhand stands there, quite possibly wearing a robe of Fortification!

Yeah, sorry. I should have mentioned there were three crit confirmation rolls.

My lowbie rogues have never managed to score a sneak attack on him for some reason. I always assumed he's already got undead characteristics in that scenario or something.

Thats another great thought.... because he Does come back as Jacoby the undead warrior not too long after that battle.

Right, but he's listed as human in the quest (I just went back and double-checked). I also thought the two might be connected, but considering his listed type is the same as his underlings (Race: Human, Type: Human), I wasn't sure.

Dont get bogged down in the Mechanics of the game too much... alot of people do that.

Just play it, and let your imagination and wonder take controll... its a much more enjoyable game that way.

I think the thought of "He's becoming Undead" is the best explination for his Fortification.

How many others in Dungeons and Dragons long history have attempted this feat to increase their powers?

    Liches anyone?

    My bad.

Story-wise, you're right; it's fine. The question is this: Is it intentional?
