    Default A Game of Thrones

Here is a teaser clip from the approaching HBO series based on George R. R Martin's fantasy novels.

I'm very excited to see his vision done in this way.

I'd be even more excited to have Book Five: A Dance With Dragons in my hand, but that is another thread for later.

    Anyway, here's the clip.

If the books haven't made a fan of you, perhaps the series will. I know I have high hopes for it....

    Thanks all.

That series was difficult for me - every time I thought I'd figured out who the star player was, they died off.

Very good read, especially if you're a fan of "anything goes".

I hear that Game of Thrones is the official fantasy series of Mortal Voyage.

Love the series. The only problem I have is the length of time between books being released. I've read the 1st one 4 times, 2nd one 3 times, 3rd one 2 times.......due to the large amount of time between releases.

I read all of my books an obscene amount of times - even the ones that I hate.

"Her Majesty's Wizard" - could you be any more pompous and self-righteous? Guess I'll read it again to find out

I'm betting that the next Game of Thrones novel will be released before the next Wheel of Time novel at least...

If you like this book series.. and you love dark, more adult themed books rather then the shiny sword and dragon fantasy stuff I HIGHLY recomend Steven Eriksons Malazan Empire series. Its at 9 books now, with final being released in January and its an incredable read.

But its not for the normal reader, the content is deep and hard to follow, but its a great story, very rewarding.

(also great to see the HBO clip, hope this works better then the "seeker of truth" tv show, which was horrible)

Unfortunately not. Brandon Sanderson has already announced that the next WoT novel is finished and on the way to printers. According to his site Mr. Martin is still working on A Dance with Dragons but has been making good progress.

I enjoy both series and will get both in Hardback but The Wheel of Time is more of an appetizer to tide me over till Mr. Martin's main course.
