How long are do these $1 place holders last and what is this error CHK-8001?

Well this was my first time buying from the DDO store and I'm using a prepaid Visa Vanilla gift card that my friend gave me. After trying one time It failed and so did the next couple of times. Then I got the CHK-8001 error. After that I went to the Vanilla Visa site to find out how much cash I have on my card, to see if i registered it or not, and I find out that the original $20 went down to 17 with these $1 things that I somehow bought. After doing some research, I found out that apparently these $1 things are place holders (although I will probably still be calling someone to make sure) but I already have 3 so how do I know I won't get more if I try to buy from the store once these go back to Zero? Also what was the CHK 8001 error that I received? Also is it normal for these $1 things to be from different places because I have one from Paypal in NE, another from Paypal in CA, and one from Turbine in MA.

It should be only placing one $1 check on your Credit Card. The problem with these kind of things is that banks these days have anti-fraud detection systems in place and these little 'test' purchase from an 'online gaming' company sometimes result in an account being locked down.

I know it caused mine when I first applied it, I do not understand why Turbine doesn't inform the customer of this action when they first put their details in so can take preventative steps with the financial institution to ensure their account isn't locked down or affected.

Did you buy points via Credit Card and access any PayPal features during the transactions?

I kinda figured I wouldn't get much help on the forums. Anyways, I tried to pay for the points by clicking the credit card option in the store but I got an error so then I registered my card via paypal and tried to buy something but it also didn't work. Atleast now both the paypal placeholders are back to 0, I'm just waiting for the turbine one to go back to 0 but I'll probably just call them about it since the phones are back up.
