    Default Wizzy/Rogue Question

I was wondering what I should be putting my points into, lvl 4 and I have been doing Concentration, DD, Search, and UMD. I didn't know if I should change one of those to open lock though.

Keep Concentration, DD and Search maxed. Keep at least a half rank in UMD, full if you can.

As INT increases you can spread the wealth a bit. I favor Spot, Hide and Move Silently but your preferences may vary.

Open Locks is debatable. Keep in mind that at some point you will get Knock. Still, some people like to keep OL at a respectable level as well.

As so many answers: I think it depends on what you want to do with the character. What level split are you looking to be at level 20? What role are you looking to play in a group? Are you wanting to be mostly a Rogue with some spells as backup, or are you looking to play a Wizard that can handle some of the Rogue role?

My main character will end up being a 18 Wiz/2 Rog. I solo with the character quite a lot and wanted to be able to self heal rather dependably and disable traps. So I made sure to keep Concentration, Disable Device, and UMD maxed, and then the extras I put into Search. But when I do PUG, I knew I would want to play the caster role not the role of a Rogue. So I built my character accordingly (well, will be after a lesser Reincarnate

If you go the route of being mostly a caster, I wouldn't worry about Open Lock too much. I agree with Therigar - keep your Concentration, DD, and UMD up. The only reason I would put some points into Open Lock is for the few times you can't use your Knock spell.

Open Locks doesnt need to be maxxed out, but you'll need 15 ranks or so with +5 tools and a good Open Lock item for each odd level. ( I.E. a +15 open lock item @ 20th) Knock won't open every lock in game and uses up sp to boot. Try to spend one action point on the rogue skill boost as well. It helps in situations even though it's only +2 at tier I, though it adds to all skills while active.
