    Default Life after DDO

Just came back from a trip visiting with the RL friend that brought me into DDO back in 2006. He quit playing 2 months ago, and it looks like he's not coming back. He's lost 30 pounds, quit smoking, and begun taking classes in Taekwondo - he seems pretty happy with his decision.

One of the things we discussed was his reasons for leaving - he claims that he's not "mad" at Turbine, but rather that they took a direction that made the game less fun for him.

However, he's still a huge fan of D&D, so we're going to dig out our old copies of Neverwinter Nights (the Gold box, not NW2) and try to start up a weekly gaming night since we live in different states. Years ago (before we joined DDO) we tried to run through the "Pools of Radiance" fan module but couldn't get everyone involved to be able to connect to the server (one of the reasons DDO was so appealing), so that's where we're going to start.

I started searching for other modules for the original NWN game, but then got all lazy and thought I'd ask this community for their suggestions of other NWN modules that they enjoyed.

There is no life after DDO, only death. To play is to live!

On a serious note, grats to your friend for breaking the addiction of ddo and smoking!

So you're saying that everyone that plays DDO is a chain smoking overweight person that cant defend themselves?

What's interesting is that I quit smoking the same day I tried to quit playing DDO - does it say anything about this game that it's easier to quit smoking?

I don't recall saying anything about chain smoking

I’m assuming you’re referring to the BioWare version of NWN. While technically not a module I love the Prestige Consortium HakPak.
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

BioWare certainly rings a bell. I'll check that one out - thanks!

A lot of the classic PnP conversions are good. You might also try a persistant world.

IMO the best fan made NWN mod was the Aielund Saga

    awesome to play with friends

I also loved to play the Diablo mod with a friend of mine, we just got a bit sad that we got too powerful in the final parts, but you can try thinking of a way to avoid that

Most of the amazing modules are single player but there's a couple pretty good multiplayer ones.

    The Aielund Saga
    http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view...id=377&id=3920

This is is extremely long but has a good story, this module has about 5 or 6 parts, it'll take you from level 1 to 30 something. Popular series and it's actually finished >.>

    The Prophet
    http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view...Detail&id=4426
This is a pretty interesting module, I never finshed the series but but there's 3 parts now. The multiplayer kind of acts weird. One person gets to be the Prophet and anyone else is there to tag along and kill, loot, ect. This series has 3 parts, but I believe the last one is in production.

I tried to load up NWN the other day and it wouldn't run... gonna have to look up if there's a problem with win7 and NWN Platinum.
Please split the class forums into REAL subcategories this is a jumbled mess.

Run it as Admin. Mine also doesn't like anything else running at the same time (firefox etc).

Not sure about the name of the module, but there was one for high level where you got summoned by your true name to perform all kinds of nasty tasks for a big baddie.

The module was slightly broken, but maybe the author has fixed it and someone knows the one I'm talking about.

The only thing I'd recommend is setting a timer so you don't forget to eat! That game was almost as bad as an MMO addiction-wise.

I'll admit that I haven't seen that video. Do you have a link to it?

I'm not trying to say SSOIDH, but all of the contestants having gained their heaviest weight back or worse doesn't sound right to me considering the number of contestants that they have back on their show to inspire the people who are currently on the ranch. I don't expect that they are hiding people who gained sinificant weight back either, because they have brought a couple of people back to the show who gained significant weight after their season's finale. Now, the show's first winner did gain back most of his weight, but from what I've seen (beyond just what the show itself puts forward), a majority of the people who lost significant weight on the show (which is most of them) have kept a good bit of it off.

Most put some of the weight back on, but I think that even Bob and Jillian would say that the intense lifestyle that they have on the ranch is not sustainable for most people who have a family and a job. It does get most contestants to a point in their life where they are able to sustain a change in diet, exercise and lifestyle choices that help them stay much more healthy than they were before their time on the show.

I'm not a Biggest Loser superfan. I don't like the product placement. I don't like how they shake the camera when someone falls down at the beginning of the season. I don't like the fact that they have the same video shot of the moon in every "it's nighttime" scene change even though the moon is in a different phase for each week of the show. My wife likes it, though, and I like my wife, so I'm willing to put up with some annoyances to hang out with her while she watches it. I'm just glad that she has given up on John and Kate Plus 8/Kate Plus 8.

That's really weird. I don't know where TheChemicals original post in this thread, my response to him and his response back to me actually went.

I didn't get a note from anyone, so I don't think that I said anything naughty in it. Go figure.
