    Cool The Perfect B.L.T.

Bacon..you know you love it. It's the perfect balance of texture, saltieness and cholesterol. We have had it in many forms. Today I present to you....my favorite way to enjoy bacon.

The Perfect B.L.T. (Bacon,Lettuce and Tomato)

    Ingredients:
4-6 Strips Thick sliced applewood smoked bacon.
4-6 Leaves Romaine Lettuce (Washed and cleaned in cold water)
2-3 Slices Fresh Tomato ( Heirloom is best, but normal red tomatoes work good!)
2 Slices of Country White Bread
1 Tablespoon Mayonaise (Not Miracle Whip!!!)
    Fresh Black Pepper to taste.

The key to this recipe is how you prepare the bacon. For perfect bacon it must be rendered. This is accomplished by cooking in a large skillet on medium to medium low heat. This can take 15-20 minutes, but the results cannot be denied of their greatness. After the bacon appears to have rendered all of it's fat. Remove slices onto a few sheets of paper towel.
Evenly distribute the maynaise onto each slice of bread. Layer the letuce next, followed by the tomatoes. Sprinkle the tomatoes with some freshly ground black pepper. Lay the desired amount of bacon upon the tomatoes and top with the remaining slice of bread.
Slice the sandwich at a diagnol and enjoy.

Reccomended to be consumed with Fresh Hot Coffee or a glass of Freshly squeezed Orange Juice.

    I do hope you enjoy!!!

I agree with this statement. I know some people can't get enough of their creamy white sauces, but I sure know how to pass. ^_^

The only difference between Mayo and Miracle Whip is the addition of Paprika.

I personally cook my Bacon on a sheet tray in the oven set to 350, 450 if I need it done fast but nothing I have to almost stand there and watch cause on 450 it goes from prefect to burnt in a flash. 350 for 15-20 min is the best.

Then if I am feel very Elvis-ish I will take the grease from the pound od bacon I just cooked put it in a skillet add flour to make a roux cook that until "dark" then add strong black coffee. Hmmmm- tasty tasty heart problems. You would put the Redeye gravy over biscuits eggs or home-fries or anything really.

Man, this thread is making me hungry.

Also, there's Canadian Bacon.... which doesn't really do well in a BLT.

I've seen that "round" bacon before, called "cottage bacon" at the store I saw it.

It was a little saltier than the strip bacon I normally get.

    My perfect BLT:

Forget all that fancy preparations. Just add 10 strips of bacon followed by bucketloads of cheese.
In case you didn't already notice, my posts that end with must NEVER EVER, under any circumstances, be taken seriously.

I often skip the tomato(A sin I know) and add one or two slices of Havarti cheese.

Hearty wheat bread a little mayo ample amounts of bacon and crisp lettuce.

Why are we dorking out on bacon sandwiches again?
