Default EverQuest II going free to play

Seems SOE is following Turbine business model with FtP EverQuest 2, and a month after they said EQ2 wont go free to play. Reminds me of how Turbine said the same for LotRO. Never played EQ2 but may give it a shot later on.

Oh my lord I wish you hadn't told me that LOL.

Been watching to see if they would. The combat leaves something to be desired. But it has aspects that Ilike. Plus my craftinggggggggggggg..

the caviat though is that its not migrating to the live servers like ddo did, its making a complete set of seperate servers so froobs wont mix with the vets unless they want to join the monthly subscription live service... what a fantastic idea.

I played EQ2 when it first came out. Our guild "Vagabonds" was the first to complete all of the raids and begin farming them, and they certainly didnt come out with new content quickly enough, becaus soon after that, many of the guildys left to play other games.

The features I liked were: spells with 0 cast time that you could cast while running, housing, pets, crafting.

The main thing I did not like was the proxy xp nerf that happened where they took all the harder to kill mobs out of the outdoor world. Gaining good xp in that game means finding a group, and camping somewhere in a dungeon zone and chain pulling mobs while the crowd controller has the next kill lined up. If the zones get too crowded, xp comes to a grinding halt.

Hrm... does EQ have pvp servers? Killing froobs sounds like a good way to de-stress.

Why am I a disgruntled vet? I could care less about nerfs, if the rest of the update worked.
I hate epic, GSF !="generalist wizard", and my raid loot luck still *'in sucks.

not sure this is a great idea. No sense of community for 'froobs' who decide to stay and pay full time.

Unless they offer a one-time free character transfer, of course. Even then, you're uprooting a player from his community. I dunno, seems too much 1950's discrimination to me.

Heh, did you just compare the Jim Crow South to newbie/vet servers in a video game?

It is like going to a museum and bragging about how fast you made it through. Or bragging about how fast you finished a good steak.

I do and dont agree with it LOL.

I don't only cause it restricts me from my established characters.

I do cause then all the new players are all in the same area.

eh, I didnt have any problems leveling up to 77 on my paladin. But then again, I never did run a raid.

What I like most is the fact that squishes have the ability to target through the tanks so that agro stays where it belongs LOL.

Yes it does, but whether the f2p servers will have pvp remains to be seen.

I've been wondering about the character transfer myself. Or are they going to forbid it like DDO did.

Please note: I can answer almost any question about EQ2 and crafting, but I cant for DDO. Now that is a shame..

I like the illusionist. I like my carbon copy. I shrink her down and let her go kill while I harvest or whatever.

    I like the shadowknight
    I like the paladin
    Necro/Wizard are okay
as for healers.. I love the buffs/wards that the mystic/defilers have. They are rather awesom.
I like my warden..im ..eh on my fury
    My barbarians are okay...
And I love the monk class in EQ2. Devastating Fist is just awesome.

I see alot of this lately. If its not comparing it to the evils of WWII that is.

Lets stick to talking about the game and not wander off in -that- direction...

LOL I can talk about EQ2 crafting all day long LOL.

I love being able to make my own stuff, whether it be spells for upgrades, jewelers, clothes, food, and especially my carpenter.

When my woodworker got high enough to make underwater breathing totems and totems of the wolf to make you run faster, me and this one other guy always had sales wars on the marketplace LOL. We teased each other about it.
