    Default Your best "oops" moment

The ability to laugh at yourself is great and I got a good laugh yesterday.

So i figured I will post my moment but would ask others to do the same.

Ok, so I have a level 15 rogue custom assassin build. I went to try shroud for the first time. In anticipation for the big event I bought some gear and got my HP to 252 unbuffed so I can be around 300 buffed. Then I went and worked with a good group. We did fine in part one, took a while in part 2 but got it done, no real issues with part 3.

Then I lasted the first two rounds of part 4 but when the 2 healers died and were put in penalty box (area where you cannot come back and have to wait) I had to self heal. So while I was wand whipping a devil teleported behind me and bascially baskstabbed me. I kinda found that funny as was like a form of poetic justice and a fair revenge for all the backstabs I have done with that rogue. They did finish and we moved on to last section.

ON the final fight against Arraetrikos we had him cornered and we had him to about 15% health left. Then I died (was really no biggie as cleric and fvs were both waiting with heals). Here is where it got weird. Someone casts resurrection on me and I click the resurrect and get ready to start swinging again. Now, you have to imagine where the boxes are. After I clicked the resurrect I started clicking to attack. Arraetrikos killed me again right away before I think i even got a swing off. The recall screen came up while I was swinging (actually just clicking) away and "click" I found myself in meridia before I even knew I was dead again. Then they killed him about 30 or 40 seconds later.

There is my biggest "oops" moment in the game.

Would love to hear other stories.

    Default you betcha

I ran von 5/6 prolly 7 times before I was in a group that could open Velah's Lair.....

SO- I was pretty adept at running part 5- had it all figured out, and once we get to the lair entrance, I decide I'm gonna hand out at the door, and wait for the pillars to come down. I've never seen it done, so I just chilled, and....

    WAIT A MINUTE- IT DROPPED!

I was so excited, I creeped right in- by myself. Cue 11 people yelling at me........

    12 if you count Velah.....

    Default Believe it or not

I turned around with a can-do attitude (might as well , right?) and started swinging, got a good 8-10 swings in before the ding.

Having fire resist (or any buffs for that matter) would have been nice.

    EDIT- See location

I have greater robe of fire resist but not sure it would have helped. Might have got maybe a swing or two more but not going to be much better. Velah has smokin hot breath.

Glad you went for it. YOu never kow if you don't try.

Anyone else got a better story, don't be shy, we all have had a few missteps along the way.

Nothing too major or exciting, but my favorite way back when was going for a long swim with my cleric in a group. I didn't have, or had already used, my ring of waterbreathing, so I took off my plate to make sure I made the swim. After surfacing we had a group or a named waiting for us. In a few seconds I went from full health to about 1/4, but I couldn't figure out what went wrong, I just assumed they were lucky with the crits. Then after the battle someone kindly pointed out, "You might wanna put your armor back on before the next one."
    Whooops.....

Went into delera with my haggling goggles on. Found first trap, clicked on box to disarm. I made the saving throw from box exploding. My party, however, did not...

It hit someone for 200+ I think, and another guy for 80. The 200 guy was the only death we got, thus costing us 10% exp.

Never mind the whole, hey what the heck you doing rogue comment. Just another example of how hard it is being a rogue. We got soo many things to swap all the time it is bound to happen that you will forget the odd swap. however, many non-rogues might not liek you blowing them up when you try to disable a trap. Oh well, comes with the territory.

Nice one as I can bet there are many other rogues with similar experiences. I think a worse situition would be if someone did that on elite and everyone dies trying to run through the trap. Then you got to run through it again, grab stones and fight your way to the shrine. I am sure this must have happened to someone out there.

    Default never hurdle a beholder

I've got a stick build (2 mnk, 13 rog) rogue that can survive in the orchard with help. She's just too squishy even though she has high dps for a rogue. We ran out of a rare's cave and I anticipated my partner's move and jumped down a cliff. As I sail through the air, I see the named beholder below me.

Did I say I was squishy?

So far it's the moment that puts the "Doh" in DDO for me.

In ritual sacrifice with my fvs, before the end fight where you have to keep the npc alive i took special care of repeteadly repeating to the players that the enemy need to be taken out quick and that i'd keep the npc healed.
So much that they began to repeat it themselves and telling me to keep the npc healed.
Arriving at the door to that final fight we took a long while to get ready for the charge.

Problem is, when the lever was pulled it was me that rushed in the first, instead of the melees.
First thing happened was me running straight into an air ele or whirlwind and instantly got knocked out, bounced back out of the door and dropped all the way down to the bottom level.
It turns out that they saw me rush in and charged, but didnt saw me flying out.

They went on to blindly win the battle without heals and thinking i was keeping the npc healed.
It was all so fast that they just rushed to the chest and recalled, never noticing i wasn't there.
By the time i walked all the way back to the chest people had long logged out since it was late at night.

I assume you referring to "let sleeping Dust Lie". yea, I could see a fw being very bad there.

My rogue is an assasin and the first time I went in there I went to assasinate an ogre and even with my small wepon swing i assasinated a spider. After that no more assassinations there, nope, can't do, well maybe if i can ever figure it out, wait, no (repeat mantra,, no , no , no). It just too easy to kill those spiders.

I was getting my tail kicked around big time in a VoD. Finally looked at my equipment and realized "oops, I have my disable gear on"

Heh, did that the other day while two-manning Dust with a guildie. I changed FW right away and we got through it the 2nd time with no spider deaths and killed everything else so we got all the end chests. Painful start, good ending.

    Default Titan Raid OOPS!

Running ahead to the mindflayer in the titan and killing it, not realizing that the doors close locking everyone out, we had four people there so we actually finished it but there were a few disappointed people. I had run the titan a few times back when it first came out but this was the first time I had run it in a few years.

I agree I like that one. I especially like the the homer simpson style "dope" moment you must have had when you saw you had the boss targeted.

I have done something like this where I was attacking and a couple of us had been wanding, and I keep hearing the wand sound. I started to wonder why the animation looks like I not swinging then I realized it was me still whipping my wand. There was a large mob in front mof me so I had noone targeted and was just healing myself the damage the mob was doing. However, it did make me feel stu[id.

Recently, after wailing away on the last giant in Prey on the Hunter, my camera angle was on it and the white dragon. I was rapid fire clicking and went from wailing on the giant to suddenly fighting the dragon. It worked out well in the end.

Most recently, same quest, running up to the chest, I ran off the edge and had to redo the maze. I wish I could blame the lag.
