    Default New Sorcerer

Hello guys, Iam new in DDO and after playing with fighter, wizard and sorcerer i wanna start over a new sorcerer I simply loved the class. Since iam f2p im gonna start with 28 points and Im gonna be a Human, I was using the Arcane Cannon path designed by the own game and i have a question :

Should i keep using this path or customize a new one? Because i have no idea how should i do a custom character.

So, if i need to customize a new one I was wondering if you guys can help/give me builds since i wanna play with a sorcerer focused on damage

    Thank you

    try this.

    http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=240459

just move the stats down to int 10 instead of 14 and take concentration, umd, and balance/haggle

Sorry but could you post a more elaborated build? What about enhancements and spells?

Go to the Sorcerer forums and look at the builds there.
    ... a soldier,
Full of strange oaths, and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel,
    Seeking the bubble reputation,
    Even in the dragon's mouth.

    lets see for enhancments:

Go fire. max out damage lines first, then crit chance, then crit damage.

max your toughness enchanment line once you hit 15.

take human adaptablity cha as soon as possible.

    max out human verastility.

    for spells.

first level: niacs, jump, hyptno, and magic missile. (switch niacs out later on.)
second level : schoring ray, web, resist energy, knock or blur ( i have the zepher cloak so it was no contest for which one)
third level: fireball, haste, displacement (you can switch fb out later), rage
fourth level: firewall, diminsion door, phamtasmal killer, enervation
level five: cone of cold, ball lightning, teleport, cloudkill
level six: disintigrate, flesh to stone, greater heroism (if you run with a lot of wf like i do you can scroll gh and use reconstruct instead.)
level seven: finger of death, ottos sphere of dancing, banishment
level eight: polar ray, the rest are kinda meh i use mass charm monster
level 9: wail of the banishee, mass hold monster

    hope that helps

One Build that has worked really fine for me is this one:

    Race: Human

    Attributes:
    ---------------------
    Strength 12
    Dexterity 8
    Constitution 14 *(16)
    Intelligence 10
    Wisdom 8
    Charisma 18

    * If 32 point build start with 16 Constitution.

    Levels:
    1 Bard
    19 Sorcerer

    Skills:
Level 1: 4 points into Balance, Concentration, Diplomacy, Haggle, Tumble, Use Magic Device, Intimidate
Level 2+: 1 Point Concentration, 2 points into Use Magic Device.

    Feats:
    Level 1: Extend / Toughness
    Level 3: Empower
    Level 6: Maximize
    Level 9: Spell Focus: Necromancy*
    Level 12: Spell Penetration
    Level 15: Greater Spell Penetration
Level 18: Greater Spell Focus: Necromancy*

    * Spell Focus and Greater Spell Focus can be traded for Mental Toughness, Improved Mental Toughness, Force of Personality, Quicken, Heighten. Yet I rarely take those I prefer to max out the use of my Finger of Death and Wail of The Banshee with Necromancy Focus and you can switch enhancements to Pale Master if readily available.

    Spells:
Level 1: Focusing Chant (+1 to skills, saves)
Level 2: Hypnotism / Magic Missile
    Level 3: Jump
    Level 4: Night Shield
    Level 5: Scorching Ray
    Level 6: Web
    Level 7: Haste
Level 8: Resist Energy / Acid Blast
    Level 9: Wall of Fire
Level 10: Frost Lance / Phantasmal Killer / (Invisibility or Ghoul Touch)
    Level 11: Ball Lightning
Level 12: Cone of Cold / Displacement / Enervation
    Level 13: Disintegrate
Level 14: Dimension Door / Cloud Kill / Flesh to Stone
    Level 15: Finger of Death
Level 16: Mind Fog / Acid Fog / Otto's Sphere of Dancing
    Level 17: Polar Ray
Level 18: Mass Charm Monster / (Control Undead or Waves of Fatigue)
Level 19: Wail of the Banshee ... (Optional: Replace Phantasmal Killer with Stone Skin)
Level 20: Energy Drain .... (Replace Enervation with Fire Shield)

Why Bard? And why the firewall is so late? Sorry if those are newb questions, if its a sorc focused on dmg shouldnt i take the spells with most dmg first? Is there a differece between sorcs focused on dmg in elementals, like some builds are more focused in cold spells, others in fire spells ?

Wich skills should i get? Max concentration, UDM and Balance or Haggle ?

The bard level allows you to get UMD to a base of 23 at level 20. without it, you would get it only up to 11.5 and the .5 doesn't round up, so a max of 11 umd. The High UMD will allow you to use heal scrolls at higher levels. You would put 2 skill points per level into UMD being a cross-class skill. 1 skill point = .5 points into UMD, and you'll be able to add 2 points per level as a cross class feat from taking 1 level in bard. Concentration so as no t to get interrupted using scrolls and casting spells. Also the level of bard gives you a little bit more mana.

Firewall is taken at level 9, because it's your 8th level of sorcerer. Wizards get level 4 spells at level 7 and Sorcerers at level 8. Since you're delayed by the bard level. You get to wait to level 9 to get firewall. Yes this is a much harder way to play a sorcerer. But you get healing at high levels, and a Godly amount of UMD.

    18 Charisma + 5 (1 every 4 lvls) + 3 Sorc. Cha + 6 Charisma Item, +1 Charisma Tome + 1 Human Charisma = 34 Charisma Easily at lvl 20 36 with a +3 tome

    UMD = 4 (level 1) + 19 (1 every level) + 3 (golden Cartouche) + 13 (from 36 Charisma) + 6 (Shroud Item) + 1 (Focusing Chant) + 2 (Head of Good Fortune) + 4 (Greater Heroism)

    44 (Easily Obtainabled)
52 with the shroud item and Head of Good Fortune

Consider that Heal scrolls are 40 UMD to cast. You'll be doing pretty well.

If you're not interested in the extra Healing though you can always go 20 levels of sorcerer to get the capstone and you can still have some decent UMD but you'll need to get more items.

Sorry about the enhancements let me tell you what I have on my sorc:

    Racial Toughness I & II
Sorcerer Lineage of Energy I, II, III
Sorcerer Lineage of Elements I, II, III
Sorcerer Lineage of Deadly Energy I, II, III
Sorcerer Lineage of Deadly Elements I, II, III
Sorcerer Energy Manipulation I, II, III, IV
Sorcerer Elemental Manipulation I, II, III, IV
Sorcerer Energy of the Dragonblooded I,II, III, IV
    Sorcerer Charisma I, II, III
    Human Adaptability I Charisma

and I still have some skill points left.
