Default Player DR and alignment damage Q's

I plan on starting a WF battlemage, and the Docent from the new Sentinels pack looks like a great fit with DR 5/Magic. However, I was wondering if a lot of mobs' attacks count as magic. Kinds of DR players can get that I've seen include:

    DR/Adamantine
    DR/Epic
    DR/Magic

How common is it for mobs to be able to bypass those?

Also, I've heard alignment-based damage given as a major reason why many builds use the neutral alignment. Just how common and how severe is alignment-based damage? I want to be able to use pure good weapons (don't plan on taking UMD), but I may change plans if dmg vs good is a really big deal.

    Thanks

Magic gets bypassed by everything except animals and vermin by level 3 or 4. Adamantine is bypass by golems, the Stormreaver and a handful of other enemies.

I'm not sure about Epic, but I've read it's not much.

That is definitely not true. DR 5/magic works just fine in all low level and most mid-level quests that I can recall. I don't always monitor my combat logs, but I know for a fact it does work perfectly in quests like the Delera's chain (lvls 5-8). I just recently ran my monk through the new Sentinels quests and the DR 5/magic on her robe was blocking the damage from the majority of the enemy attacks.

DR /magic works on quite a bit of monsters even into the mid-game. They work on scrags in Ataraxia for example. On the other hand, DR /magic isn't something that I'd rely on -- it's a nice bonus though when it does work.

    Reasons to go true neutral:

Immune to Chaos Hammer/Order's Wrath spells. Hezrou use the Hammer a lot, priests in the Inspired Quarter spam the hell out of Order's Wrath.
Able to benefit from Stability items (again, the Inspired Quarter, with the Light And Darkness shield)
Able to use Anarchic/Axiomatic weapons without penalty.
Able to use Touch Of Evil items (specifically, the Litany Of The Dead) without taking a negative level.
    Reduced damage from Unholy Blight.

Reason not to go true neutral:

Your class(es) require lawfulness or goodness (or both).
You want to use Of Pure Good weapons, and have no UMD.
You want to use the Ring Of The Ancestors (I'd really recommend just making a Positive+Positive Greensteel weapon instead).
